what does mr ff and fr stand for? i know ff is front wheel drive and fr is rear wheel drive but what do the exact letters stand for? thanks much! happy racing!

Break down:

FF = front engine, front wheel drive
FR =Front engine, Rear Wheel drive
MR = Mid engine, Rear wheel drive
RR = Rear engine, Rear Wheel drive
4WD = 4 wheel drive

AO

In other words:

FF = Look at me, I can't control oversteer.
FR = Look at me, I can't apex good enough to control understeer!
MR = Look at me, I'm an Elise fan!
RR = Look at me, when I get rear-ended I'll have a 400hp boxer hanging out of the back of my head.
4WD = Look at me, I like grunt!

Or...

FF = Look at me, I'm a little wimpy boy who can't handle oversteer
FR = Look at me, I won't waste my time with understeering FF cars. Now I just have to figure out why I keep spinning...
MR = Look at me, I like cars that can hold a turn at 180
RR = Look at me, I drive a German drag car
4wd = Look at me, I can't handle oversteer and I'm afraid of rear wheel drive!

;)

That German drag car remark was aimed at those understeering RUFs. Until you get them set up right, anyway

No. j/k ;)

Um, lessee, AO already answered your question... however, I must note that the "4WD" term doesn't tell quite enough about the car. For instance, there are some cars that are front-engined 4WD, mid-engined 4WD, and even rear-engined 4WD (RUF CTR2). So, because of this, the way that 4WD cars handle can vary greatly... They really need terms like F4WD, M4WD, and R4WD... confusing to look at, yes, but tells a lot more about the car...

MR = Look at me, I like cars that can hold a turn at 180
Followed by:
Just don't touch the brake or come off the accelerator!
Heheh, I was just going to say that! Get your speed right the first time! Weight transfer can be a real biotch when the rotational mass of the car is all clustered right around the CG...

Better have a verrrrry gentle foot!

Also FF cars have fried front tyres :D... so in FF Championships slicks on the front and medium on the back (depending on amount of Laps) :burnout:

(Regarding the whole MR deal): Jeezes, mid-engines can be both a blessing and a curse. Obviously, you get the benefit of impressive handling, but I've noticed MR cars (especially the 787B) are prone to doing 180s if you hit a rumble strip just the right way... this has happened to me at Laguna Seca on a couple occasions...
