Hola everyone. I am at a crossroads. I need a car. I have none. (unless you count hot wheels... lets not.)

I have a budget because im a poor as 🤬 college student.the government has graciously loaned me a large sum of money (i get 3K cash each semester to use towards transportation and rent and bills). I know my number will severely reduce my chances of finding something good but im looking around 1500. I can feasibly pay the car off, and have money left over for rent and bills as well as school extras. im looking for something cheap. im almost at the point where i don't care what it is, as long as its mine. I still have some standards, like gas, and or if its reliable or not, and i am NOT a Ford guy, nor have i ever been.

Does anyone out there know what cars i should look out for? what cars have the most issues? i know thats almost impossible to list seeing as how every company makes a faulty car here and there. i guess im looking for something post 1990 not a truck or SUV. (unless the deal is to good to pass on) god gas mileage. sporty yet practical. if it cant at all handle snow that's out because of Michigan winters. i like the idea of body kits and such but you can do that with almost anything nowadays. I like the idea of cheap parts too like Honda parts and Toyota parts etc etc.

I was looking up odds and ends on craigslist and other used cat sites, I found a good price on a Tiburon but the guy sold it. It was only 2500 with some minor body damage but im going to school for Auto body so minor/moderate damage isn't to much of an issue, unless it impedes driving it daily until i can fix it. I saw some great prices on Older Celicas, with many reviews saying they ran great past 100K and the owners loved the drive and car in general. I was looking at Civics but i dont think i really could find one in my price range.

Maybe you __insert your name here__ have an idea on something i should look for or not?

I know im probably gonna find jack crap but who knows maybe i will get lucky and someone will mention something i look and boom i see it right there and finally have something worthwhile to post in the show off your latest purchase thread

Where at in Michigan do you live?

Remember the economy here is shot and a lot of people ditched there junk cars in the C4C programme, so you might have an issue finding something. If you are in the Detroit area we have some charity auction houses around here that always have cars for cheap.

You are probably going to end up with most young people in Michigan get...a Dodge Neon. A vast majority of the people I know, including myself, have had a Neon at some point during their driving career. A first gen Neon would be bad but the reliability is hit or miss.

I am in the Ace Deuce (Ann Arbor for those non hipsters out there_ and i was looking all around SE Michigan. i did however find a nice Hundai Tiburon in east point for cheap $1500 (with no major issues it says) its doubtful but if i could talk him down to 1000 i would jump on that deal asap. the only 1 issue is its a stick and im no good with a stick but if it was my daily driver..... gotta learn sometime!

I know it basically goes against all your "requests" but have you considered a Chevrolet Celebrity(or one of the re-badged versions)? They have indestructible engines as well as cheap insurance(not sure if this matters to you)

I was thinking that route, they do run very well.
