After 23 years living in the Seattle area, it has come time for me to uproot myself, and re-settle...60 miles to the south. For those of you who failed 3rd grade geography, Olympia is the capital of Washington State, and is home to about 50,000 people. Much quieter than the greater Seattle area (home to about 3 million), and a much less expensive place to live. Now you might be wondering why on earth I've decided to leave Seattle's sparkling-clean and not-at-all-scary University District. I must confess: it's the almighty dollar. I know, I'm shallow, but I've been offered a new job at Rohm and Haas as a chemical process engineer. In addition to shaking the shackles of working customer service at a chemical distributor, I'll finally get to start using my brain again, and using that massively-expensive piece of paper that some call "a degree". It's a wonderful opportunity for me, and I'm very happy that I won't have to really leave home (most chemical engineers end up in the midwest or the south). Oh, and it's twice as much money
. A nice perk, but I'm honestly more excited about starting a real career than I am about the paycheck. (Nevertheless, it may be time to pimp the ride
). Anyway, it was a good Friday for me, and I'm excited to get my career finally going after a year of post-graduation reality.
Oh, and I apologize to Jimmy Stewart for the thread title.
