:grumpy: at least you got that much. :dopey:

 True. But your car has only 2,000 pounds or less to carry around. My car, the brick, has to lug around 3,201 pounds with a drag (AND I DO MEAN DRAG) coefficient of nearly 0.4... around town the car is pretty quick. It's on the highway (especially with the A/C on -- which saps about 20 horses) when things start to slow down. I NEED a boost controller! :dopey:  Or at least I've convinced myself that I need a boost controller.

PS
Or just another/bigger turbo........

^_^

 ok... you got a point der... 👍

The turbo on the car is only 2 years old. So it's very strong as is. I bigger turbo is not cost effective. I could end spending more money on the turbo/installation than I did on the entire car! Therefore, a cheap and reliable manual boost controller is the best way to go -- for now. :sly:

Really?! What model 740? Turbo, GL, GLE?

Its a 91 740 GL, so no turbo :indiff:, I was going to sell It since I'm getting My dads car, but I thought I would keep it to turn it into a bit of a project car :trouble: I have heard of people using turbos from all types of cars on N\A motors...even from a thunderbird! Plus you can get higher HP frome less boost on the N\A motors...but its way more cost effective to buy a turbo model. I have a buddy who has a late 80s 740 sedan, and its pushin around 280hp 👍

That's not a bad thing. Any brick is a good brick!

That's the way to do it. :trouble:

That is due to the higher base compression ratio.

but its way more cost effective to buy a turbo model.

True.

I WANT!! I WANT!!! What are some of his modfications?!

Looks like a decent car :)

Hope it isn't as much of a banger as the saloon 740 GL I saw last week with 52,000 genuine  miles... More like 252,000 miles ;)

The steering wheel was so bald you could see your reflection in it :sly:

I would have to ask him, and at the momment I'm about a 11 hour drive from home. :) But I do know that he has a bigger than stock turbo pushing around 16psi.

And I thought I might post a pic of my brick.

Thank you! :D

 No, it's in excellent condition for a 17 year old car.

The steering wheel was so bald you could see your reflection in it :sly:

I just saw a 750? wagon and it was lowered... looked kinda ghetto. :odd:

Couldn't be... Volvo only made 740 and 760 wagons. There is, however, an 850 wagon. I would also like to take the opportunity to mention that there is a Volvo 780 as well. :sly:

Even if I stayed with the stock turbo, I wouldn't go more than about 12-13 psi.

And I thought I might post a pic of my brick.

Very nice! I prefer that body color over mine, but I like my 5-spoke alloys. :D

well, you should have seen the rims that it had stock....erm, I mean hubcaps  so I think the ones I have now are from a tubo model.

Anyway, get some more pics up!

I think the 1988 Turbo rims are different than the yours. My car has 5-spoke alloy wheels.

Anyway, get some more pics up!

There is something wrong with the digital camera. As soon as it's fixed, I'll post a few hundred pictures. :sly:

LATEST NEWS:

I fixed my boost gauge! Since I first bought the car, the boost gauge always read "atmospheric pressure". I've traced it to a rubber hose that seemed to have suffered some heat damage and had a small 1/4 inch diameter hole in it. I bought some electrical tape and feebly attempted to tape it up. I wasn't sure if it did anything at first, so I drove off. When I got back on the road, I noticed one of the gauges had bottomed out in the corner of my eye. Thinking the worst at first, I realized it was the boost gauge and immediately recognized it as reading "vacuum". When I tipped into the throttle a bit, it moved towards the top, and when I really got into it, it went into the yellow (positive boost pressure). It's the coolest thing to watch.

I had so much fun watching the boost gauge rise and drop, I nearly crashed several times! :dopey:
