No, they are different.

From McAfee Virus Information
What is a Virus?
A virus is a manmade program or piece of code that causes an unexpected, usually negative, event. Viruses are often disguised games or images with clever marketing titles such as "Me, nude."

What is a Worm?
Computer Worms are viruses that reside in the active memory of a computer and duplicate themselves. They may send copies of themselves to other computers, such as through email or Internet Relay Chat (IRC).

What is a Trojan Horse?
A Trojan horse program is a malicious program that pretends to be a benign application; a Trojan horse program purposefully does something the user does not expect. Trojans are not viruses since they do not replicate, but Trojan horse programs can be just as destructive.

Many people use the term to refer only to non-replicating malicious programs, thus making a distinction between Trojans and viruses.

What If I have Win98. The website says only

Microsoft® Windows NT® 4.0
Microsoft Windows® 2000
Microsoft Windows XP
Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003

will get infected.

Holy crap this is funny - I mean, we were told quite a few weeks ago to get updates for Windows to avoid precisely this occuring when the breach occured. I guess a lot of people don't get their critical updates very often, huh?

Ever since I got my XP, it asks me for those Windows Updates. I didn't care. But now I download every day.

Computer Worms are viruses

Heh - I somehow doubt you're the only one, Super-Supra! Particularly those poor souls trying to get the patch loaded before the PC shuts down for the fiftieth time!

 Better get your updates!

It's nothing too serious right now, but someone is re-writing the code and they are going to re-release it, probably with some evil tweaks of their own.
Dude man i just had this happen to me like last week! I didnt know it was a virus.
In the first version of Blaster, a countdown clock face pops up and your system gets seriously unstable and restarts (a lot).
That is what i got. Good thing i was about to format my computer. Now im running a firewall and im sure to update soon. Like right now. :P

At least get the SP1, security, IE, and driver updates.

I didn't get this worm and I was running only on SP1. Am I just lucky?

Ugh...been in at work late two nights in a row patching servers for this damned thing...even though I know there's no way it'd get through our firewall. But, gotta be safe - I guess.

my god this worm is incredibly persistent, ive just got on the net for the first time im weeks (for like 3 mins) at my house and i get it. :irked:

Is the Window's Update site messed up too? I don't have it but I'm guessing the site got killed by everyone trying to download their updates at the last minute.

I know you're from Malaysia, but could you at least try to spend the time to correctly type your sentences. This is a forum, not a chat room. Thank you.

My two home PCs didn't get it.

However, my client, who wouldn't pay for us to upgrade the virus protection, is now rueing this decision. Of course, like AltF8, it has meant some late night rebuilding sessions...

Did you get any high profile victims over there - one of the girls at work had her boyfriend ring - he's at Vodaphone - he was sitting there twiddling his thumbs whilst the IT department ran around like lunatics.

Not to my knowledge, although I'm sure I'll hear in the coming days. Most of our clients were adequately protected, just the client that I work with who had neglected to run with our plan.
