Msn Messenger Optus 2G Mobile Australia?

I have an LG KP500:

My phone is with Optus Australia and it is 2G. I want to know if I can use a mobile messenger with it for a small fee of maybe 5 dollars a month. I am on prepaid so I am not sure how much of a difference that makes but the way I see this is that the LG Webslider is 2G and my friends can use MSN on it. I have been searching all day and have no idea weather this is possible or not, help please?

I think I have found a solution. There is an option for a "Rev up Data" top up, it costs 10 dollars and gives you 200mb of internet to use within 30 days. If I do that I can get on m.ebuddy.com and use that.
