Hi All,

Firstly, I'm not entirely sure if this is in the right place or not, secondly by the end of this your going to think I'm a complete utter idiot.

This morning I came onto my laptop and as always was waiting for my MSN to Auto sign it's self in. However it came up with the MSN panel thing but only had my username in and not my password. Now, it's not something I often have to remember due to the fact that I leave the computer on "Remember Me", "Remember My Password" and "Sign Me In Automatically". So I clicked "Forgot Your Password".

Now, I don't know if you've ever seen the Forgotten Your Password thing for Windows Live but basically you have two options:

A) You answer a secret question and also verify your location. The probelm with this is that I can't remember the answer to my secret question (1st Mistake) also I can't remember which post code I originally assigned it too.

B) Reset via e-mail, now the probelm with this is that it sends the reset e-mail to my MSN Account e-mail inbox! Now I never assigned a alternative e-mail address incase I had this probelm (Mistake No 2.) so basically I can't even see what my password has been reset too.

Anyone have any idea on how I can fix it?

I think, you might be screwed. I always save my contact list every time somebody adds me etc, so if ever this happens to me I wouldn't have to look for addresses again. Are you sure you didn't write your password down somewhere? Personally I have a giant A4 paper full of passwords, usernames and stuff like that. Sorry if you have to start a new account fresh, it happened to me once as well but for a totally different reason.

We do have a book full of accounts and details etc, however the probelm is for some bizarre reason I never wrote down my MSN Accounts details. I can remember most of my friends hotmail addresses due to the fact some of them are so easy to remember.

I'm personally more intrested about my e-mail account, recently I've been in contact with my employer for the summer about sorting details out etc. Also, I've been entering lots of competitions recently all assigning them to that account.

I've been a complete idiot and I'm quite stressed to be honest at the moment with it all.

Well...there is always a password recovery program. I have never used one but i think they do about 1000 or so password possibility's per second. You can use one of those but you may come across a minor problem. Is the password a hard hacker free password or an easy to guess one?

Aha! My Dad has woken up and I explained my probelm to him, and the reason why I don't know the Password or the answer to my secret question is he set it up and then didn't tell me what it was! He wrote it in his book with passwords in rather than mine. I've now managed to sign in, and have added a alternate e-mail address.

I suggest if any of you guys haven't added a alternate e-mail address to your account on MSN, do so. If you ever come into a situation like mine then you should be able to sort it out much easier. I would suggest that everyone does this.

Thanks for your help!

You're lucky, now go and write your password down somewhere  And save your contacts as well, just incase...
