Ok so I was in a room not to long ago that was named old and new muscle and it was on Daytona. And I go in and wanted to use a Viper GTS. Now some people don't consider it a muscle car but I do. Well people are telling me to switch so I do and the host pulls out a 430 Scuderia which last I remember muscle cars are mostly American fr set ups and Ferrari doesn't make any. Them the hosts like oh it's 220 so I use my F40 (which I didn't set the trans up enough :( ) well everyone's using 4wd and imports and whatever at this point so I go to use my gtr concept since its a 220 and under room now but it's to fast. -_- Seriously if you want equal cars play NASCAR and if you want to race cars 200hp under your just play aspec. I pick my 70 Challenger rm and race and get 3rd due to to much drag. So I go and lower my aero and try to go on the track to try it before the Rae then I get kicked. So my questions are who or what defines what qualifies as a muscle (new or old) because apparently I'm wrong and who or what can tell me my Viper that's set up for Daytona and averages between 200-210 without draft is to fast for 200 or lower. And why can't people ever go on the track before a race? It's not like oil or parts will be left on the track. Please clarify

To me american muscle means american muscle. A ferrari or a GTR isnt. But if every one else are using like minded cars then the host isnt really upto much, I would have moved on.
At the end of the day its sounds like the host was a right plank. Maybe try setting up your own room and then you have controll of how its run.

That is the very reason I only do shuffle in public

The whole reasoning behind the whole not going on track thing is that it prevents/reduces the black screen on race startup..

This. And I don't think any Ferrari is by any means a Muscle Car.. AMG can be classified broadly as 'Muscle' but Ferrari? No.

Lol I wanted you to know my frustration but thanks for the replies.

A Ferrari is in the exotic class. A GTR would be in the tuner or import class (not sure). Muscle cars are American made and usually from the 60-70 era'. I also consider any American car tuned at "x" number of HP, a Muscle car, like the SRT4 that has close to 600hp. That's muscle enough for me ! The Lightning SVT, HHR, Dodge Ram, Corvette (any), Viper (any), Camaro (any), are all muscle.

Heck, if it's American, needs a lot of gas, is too powerful and usually handle like crap, it's a Muscle car.

Me and my dad were having a discussion over the definition of "muscle car" and we both agreed that we consider a BMW M5 to be a muscle car. I mean, think about it. It's long, heavy, uses an FR layout and has a lot of power. I also consider cars like the Australian Ford Falcon or the Holden Monaro and Commodore to be muscle cars, considering the Monaro was sold here as the Pontiac GTO.

As far as handling like crap, that's normal. Muscle cars weren't built for the narrow, twisty roads of Japan; they were built for the long, open highways of the USA.

I completely understand your frustration, I've been there myself. Although my response is unendingly funny and incredibly clever:idea:, it's also exactly what I would do in your shoes. You can't argue or discuss anything with a host that pulls out a Ferrari in a Muscle Car room, just like you can't argue or discuss anything with a host that pulls out an LMP in a GT500 room. Save your time and energy and go hunting for another room, there is no other solution.:)

Yes but is is also fun to piss people off when they bend the rules to make an advantage for themselves. And I admit I need to make more cars designated for Daytona. Most of mine are drag cars. Least the ones I've actually tuned I mean I have 400 cars and I only use maybe 20

This. I race NASCAR online a lot and every time someone goes on the track before the race we all get blackscreen. If you tell the host you want to test your setup most of the time they will let you. But when you're done testing be sure to back out of the race and re-enter, not just pull back into the pits. A lot of people get confused with that part.

You apparently are too youg or just plain unfamiliar with the old Trans-Am series. Those cars handled just fine, you just have to know how to handle them.

I think when somebody says muscle car, most people would think of the big American coupes with the big V8 engines, like the Mustang and the Camaro and the Cuda and such. Cars like the Corvette and Viper are more considered super cars. As for the SVT, and Ram? Those are trucks, not muscle cars. I've never heard ANYONE classify those as muscle cars before. The Neon, I would consider more a tuner than anything.

Eh. To me it leans towards hot rod for some reason... A friend has one. I just can't say it's a tuner. Niether can he. Who knows why.

Agreed. Not all muscle cars have bad handling.

Even the V10 with relatively little torque?

Even the V10 with relatively little torque?

Yeah, pretty much. While 384 lb-ft of torque isn't that much compared to other V10 muscle cars (a Dodge Viper, for examples, has 560 lb-ft of torque) I'd still say it's a muscle car.

All real true Muscle Cars were
1) American/ some imported out of country(Canada Mainly)
2) Big Block powered, 383 cubic inches and up
3) Built before 1974.

Anything else is misidentified.

The OP probably didnt notice on entering the room, but I'll bet it was a "muscle + =" room. Meaning any car not faster than 220mph by itself is allowed. It has no bearing on a cars origin or mechanical make-up.
The host asked the OP to change out of the Viper because with a proper tune it should go faster than 220mph. He brought the F430 because it wont. Most muscle rooms at daytona are 220mph or less rooms.
As to your being kicked, on tracks with rolling starts, if your on the track at race start you can cause a blackscreen ruining everyone elses race.
