Jump in your Murciélago, look in the rear-view mirror, now look backwards (cockpit view) now look at the mirror. Go huh? It must be using Lamborghini's patented periscope arrangement of mirrors to get such a clear view.

The wife pointed it out, I'd never noticed, too busy racing.

Same deal with the miura, perfectly clear view with the rearview, but when you attempt to look back, you see nothing because of the slats.

All the cars are like that. The mirror does not reflect the interior of the car nor does it reflect partical effects so the mirror is clear when it's raining.

the wing mirrors also never show the car, even in photomode. Also it means theyre not positioned correctly, bad practice for real driving :P

It also never shows dust and smoke.

you can't get everything dude. the PS3 is simply not able to process everything. They have to make choices --> making some stuff look awesome and other stuff look horrible.

Yeah :(

I have noticed in the 787B the side mirrors are angled so you can not see anything in a straight line behind you. You can have all the other cars lining up behind you and not see one of them!

Precisly. Like a premium Prius or perhaps a premium Veyron. Hmmm, tough choice.

You shouldn't be seeing the side of the car from the side mirrors. the rear view mirror is for behind the car, the side mirrors are for your blind spot.

I prefer to have some bit of my car visible in the side view mirrors so as to judge where the other cars in relation to my car. For covering the blind spot, I put blind spot mirrors on my side views. It's pretty much the first thing I do when I get a new car or motorcycle.

On a somewhat related note... there's at least one premium car where you you hit the look back button, you don't see the interior of the car at all. It's like looking backward in bumper cam. Don't remember which model, though.

Another odd side view mirror glitch glitch is that if you slam the side of your car into a wall in cockpit mode, the mirror won't move. If you pan out to the 3rd person view then the mirror will be cocked up.

Or mke everything look good...

Not all cars have conventional rear view mirrors.
Let me guess, the zonda R?
the zonda R has no interior past the 2 front seats, same with plenty more premium cars. Some of those also dont have any sort of window at the back (Citroen GT and the peugot race car (I think), just to name quickly) So either many of them just dont get any sort of rear view ability or they are fitted with cameras (In real life), which looks like the bumper cam in the game.

Some People also complained the the GTR prototype doesn't have a cockpit view at all, despite belonging to the premium family. Many of those people didn't quite grasp the idea of the (Concept!) car not having a cockpit designed at all in real life- Even after being told by many people including myself.

All in all, Have a little trust that PD is moddeling right, and that they dont want to break the game by not making a rear view in a car with no back window- cause its simply necessary in a game.

Or mke everything look good...
After the level of detail and effort put into the premium cars already, its impossible for them to downgrade the quality we have seen to make everything look good for GT6. Maybe they can continue the quality (Say if Graphical boundaries are slightly pushed by that time, they can still stick with this level in order to make other things look better) but PD are in a tight situation. Their next game could be make or break for their future. Their next game can be nothing but better in every single aspect if GT is going to survive for the average gamer. there will still be people on gtplanet playing, and the hardcore/sim racers will probably check it out, but PD have alot of work to do to regain their ''Perfect games'' status.

Were taught here to show the car in about 1/3 of the mirror and check you blind spot manually.

Well tell them they are wrong. Turning your head away from the direction your 2-7000 pound car is going at 60 miles per hour is never a great idea.

That's 1/3 of your mirror wasted looking at the side of your car, which never does anything.

And it doesn't help you judge, it just feels like it does. there's a reason they had to put that warning on the passenger side mirror.

I hate that, I wanna see the massive clouds of smoke my Honda Odyssey is putting down.

I sense sarcasm, but anyways, adding particles and high detail models to mirrors is pointless. The detail level of everything is way down in mirrors to keep the framerate up. The poly count on the cars in the mirrors are probably a quarter if what you see in front of you in race.
