Whoa! It says Nationwide on the top banner of the windshield. Looks like the nation wide series is getting a car of tomorrow of their own just minus the win the Sprint cup cars get. Can't wait to see this in action!

TALK ABOUT A DEAD THREAD COMING BACK!

Its a little sad that GM and Ford won't play ball with the Camaro and the Mustang, but who knows, maybe they can add them next-next year? Either way, its an awesome move on Chrysler's behalf!

Its a bad decision.

NASCAR is based around advertising, why not use the car itself to promote your newest model? Bad, bad bad bad. Im sure they have their "reasons" but why NOT? Maybe Toyota still using a Camry has something to do with this.

I don't think Toyota's decision to use a Camry has anything to do with GM's decision (or Ford's).
However, I believe it is a bad idea for them to take part in Chrysler's game. That's right, I believe they've all made the right decision (except Toyota).
In my opinion, the Camaro and Mustang should stay away from stock car racing where the car's are changed to fit a mold that would certainly remove any inherent greatness from the actual street car.

I believe the decisions were made properly and the only thing for Ford and GM to do is this... Ford: stick with the current effort to use the Mustang in GT racing. GM: take Ford's lead and use the Camaro in GT racing. 👍

Although GT racing does keep cars closely spec'd it doesn't change the car to fit a cookie-cutter mold as much as series like nascar and nationwide.

Plus, let's not forget... When the cookie-cutter mold makes the cars equal there's no guarantee the massive effort to revive legends like the Camaro will not go down in flames with a couple of unsuccessful stock car teams running Camaro bodies on cars nothing close to the production version.

To me there's just too much risk in associating the Camaro with stock car racing. GT racing on the other hand... :sly: 👍

I was on my way to say "Yes! Just like the good old times when they had muscle cars in NASCAR" and then I saw that picture...

Is that meant to look like the new Dodge Challenger? Haha damn shame. :indiff:

It's a shame that only the front looks like the new challenger the rest looks like generic dodge stock car body to me.

It's obvious why the Camry was used; it's the sportiest car Toyota has.

No, there wasn't actually any sarcasm in that ^ sentence.

As for Ford, I doubt they'd use the Mustang. Didn't they always use the Torino and Thunderbird? The Taurus could make sense from a marketing point of view, but that never helped it before.

Back in the late 1960s, all of the kids on the block ran their pony cars in the series that would precede the NASCAR Nationwide (ie Bush) Series. It wouldn't be out of line to see an eventual change (neither Ford or Chevrolet could switch until 2009 anyway), so I suppose this continues to be a "wait and see" moment for the blue ovals and squares of the world.

The only issue I can see with the Challenger, Mustang, and Camaro running Busch is the aero. And that's a big issue.

Body Speculation: if the Celicas were still around, they'd use those. unfortunately, Toyo's GM's are getting into Old Fogie territory, and the designs are getting bland. Toyo doesn't have a Halo car atm. wonder if we can talk Honda into it...REALLY give detroit a scare :P

Okay, okay; so I'm splitting hairs over "car" vs. "truck". But the Camry really is the sportiest car Toyota has, even if that truck is much more interesting.

The Corolla? Over the 268HP Camry? I've driven the new Corolla, and my 2003 Civic bests it in the fun department. I mean, we all know everything Toyota is painfully dull, but the Corolla is just...inert.

Okay, the last "good, modern" Toyota:

Man, even this thread is making me sleepy. I seriously don't know how Toyota manages to sell in such high volume, but I guess it's testament proving there are masses of horrible, ineffective, clueless, dead-from-the-neck-up drivers out there. :grumpy:
