Am I the only one that doesn't see the point in the museum cards,

I think they are a waste of time from PD which could have been spent on improving things like the quality of cars or creating new tracks..

What do you think?

Yes
I never read them. They just sit there and when they show their ugly faces soneone's GT5 dies

It's pretty pointless. And the time could have been put into something much better. :/

I agree that they're pointless, but I highly doubt that they took that much time to slap together. They probably thought that they would be a nice touch. But obviously everyone else feels otherwise...

They're a very Japanese thing, the whole card collection thing and all.

Well it's a nice thing to have for collectors. I myself don't really need them but at some point (after I don't have to worry about my save data) I will take a look at them. If it's a waste of time, I don't think so as it probably wasn't that time consuming...

You can ask yourself lots of questions what was a waste of time maybe to create 50 skylines? Or stealth/chromeline cars? 800 standard cars? There might be less complaint if PD would have only added the 250 premium cars and no standard at all... there would only be one big OOOHHHHH NOOOO but no endless good/bad, enough/less, beautiful/crap looking standard/premium...

Coding for six years and releasing a quarter-assed game is a waste of time.

I like the museum and the only pity is that it`s only available when you are online and the pics are way too small.

I really wouldn't care if PD kept the museum closed. I don't think there's anyone really waiting for the museum to open again either. Don't focus on a bunch of cards about cars we can't even use, we have descriptions in the garage if we want to read. Focus on things that actually improve the RACING, like more premium cars, more events, more tracks. Racing is what the game is about, right..?

Performance points, variable transmission and seasonal events is good news though. Keep that up.

Each to their own

But they are in maintenance ATM because they were a source of a serious data gltich

I'm a fan of automotive history. I also read the facts at the bottom of the screen in Forza. lol

The museum is good. You know, I don't drive to Indianapolis to go see the museum in the infield, I go for the 500 (or the F1 race, when they had it). While I'm there, I like to wander through the museum every chance I get. Apparently many others do, too, because it's always packed.

If you look at an old Indy car, you'll realize that it's no big deal, performance-wise. The hottest thing on the race track in 1950 is easily matched or beaten by many street cars today. But it was hot for 1950, and that frame of reference makes it a big deal. The GT5 museum gives many cars in the game that same frame of reference, and makes cars fun to drive, even if you normally wouldn't give them a second look.

I like it. Some nice did you know kind info in there but I'm sure a lot of players couldn't care less and find it way more interesting collecting paint jobs so they can decorate all their rims.

The museum cards thing is a nice idea, but I enjoy all the tidbits of info they have on the cars when you go to buy a car. So I think it would of been better to concentrate on a car/tracks history because it adds importance and entertainment knowing all about that stuff.

I don't look at the museum and personally think it's quite pointless. An searchable encyclopedia about the cars/tracks in the game would have been a nice touch tough.

I don't see the need for the museum.

You automatically get a bunch of cards everytime you log on??? How is that ever supposed to feel special.

If you got something like a special video/picture slideshow when you won a major Aspec event. Like when you win Lemans 24hr you get a package that gives you a short film about the history of the event and the key drivers teams etc. Then it would feel special.

My 2 cents.

That.
And for myself, I enjoy reading through the museum, nice touch.

The museum is extremely pretentious. When people pop GT in their PS3... they don't want to sit there and read about cars and look at boring pictures. They want to experience the cars in a fully interactive gaming environment.

Now what they could've done is actually seperated the dealerships and perhaps added an additional About Me button for each dealer... that way when a player finds that they've been buying a lot of cars from a particular dealer or find one interesting enough they can just read about their history and achievements there. There is nearly enough dealers in GT to complete the entire history of the automobile - well at least the important or interesting parts. Kind of like how they did with GT2 - except maybe expand on the information with interesting facts.

I acually like them.

I'm even trade doubles with friends.
I was kind of hoping they would show up in the demonstration as they did in GT5p
