Ok, I dont want anybody saying how they feel on the issue, blah blah, all I want is an answer. (BTW, I though i'd get a better response here, rather than in the music forum.)
Now to the question,
How many of you watched the 'MTV Icon: Aerosmith hoopla?
Well, I happened to record the show, and I decided that I was gonna "try" to get the audio off the tape, and onto my computer, in mp3 form.
Using my simple hookup of the RCA plugs into a headphone jack, I ran the audio cable from the audio out on my VCR to the line in on my sound card. To my surprise it work, but with crappy quality.
So i just did it again, but rather than going through my VCR, i ran directly from the audio out on my TV, to my computer, with much better results (now if i could only get the fade out to work
)
The real question,
Is what I did legal? Or at the expense of answering my question, does it fall under that "no unauthorized reproduction" speech at the beginnning (if there was one)?
This was the only way I could think of that i could get this music, since i'm pretty sure that it wont be released on a CD or something.
The way I see it, anything that is broadcast on TV, is kinda like public domain. We pay for it, and in some cases, we don't, to me that says, hey do anything you want with it, as long as its for yourself. If they didnt wasnt us to do this, they shouldnt have put any input output on TV's
Anyways, you thoughts on the subject (if you can understand a work of what i'm saying
)
