I'm going to be quoting songs I like and linking a word in the quote (usually the title) to an mp3 on my computer. My ISP is limiting upload speeds to 15kbs, so don't expect anything spectacular ... other than free music that rocks! (:

Has anyone downloaded the file? Just wondering what kind of speed you're getting - or if it's even working at all.

it works, and im on 56k so it takes me all night long to d/l it

Cool. And hey, 56k isn't bad so long as you're connecting at 48k+. Actually, I find it quite soothing at times. It gives me time to think between Internet requests ... and keeps me from browsing too much total nonsense.

Well that's not too bad. As a rough number you could calculate that mp3s (at 128kbit) are 16kb/s in file size to play time, and you're getting about 4kb/s at a download speed. That means it takes you four times as long to download as it takes to play. A three minute song takes twelve minutes to download.

That's cool. I've had cable for about four years. It started out really cool, but has gotten increasingly worse over the years. It's still fairly good though.

There once was a time ... I was living with two network administrators for ISPs. We had cable, DSL, and ISDN all running to the same house, same room! There was always a live connection and it was always fast.

its hard to get cable when you live out in the middle of nowhere....
they would have to run cable about 13 km into the country just for me if i wanted it

I'm getting between 12.00 - 14.6 k/sec on my cable connection, LoudMusic.

Soothing? Let's see how "soothing" you think it is when it's your only option! You've had cable so long you're spoiled rotten! :p

You might as well forget it cause I'm not waiting 11 min to here a song.

Yeah, that's no lie. I counted this morning - September will have been five years for cable internet in this house. Can you believe that? This town of 45,000 population had cable internet connection in 1996! I got it just after they had been providing for a year.

Whoa! I don't think I had even heard of cable back in '96!
