The music in gran turismo is not so good. it's bad to be honest, so i want to put my own music in gt. I'll go to option-audio- and to menu bgm (or something like that). I see a lot of folders with music in it so i go to play mode and put shuffle on and repeat folder and i can hear my music. I also went to music library and put all of the gt5 music off. when i quit the game and restart I don't hear anything so i have to go to options again. everything works fine then. but if i play half an hour i am starting to notice that gt5 only plays music from 1 folder, i go to option and put repeat to off. but that didnt work'. so i go to options again and i saw that the changes i made didn't do anything and the repeat button is still on folder (yes i pressed X and i did try this a few times, also when i restart the game the shuffle mode is always set automatically to off).
So my question how do i listen to my own music in gt5 without having to go to options every time and without hearing the same music all the time? And how can i changes THE settings, so THE settings stays on THE setting i want because GT keep changes IT

That's just your opinion, but okay...

I don't know. I've encountered the same problems, too. I'll have it set to play MY music, but then after half-a-dozen races or so, it'll start playing the regular in-game racing music. Sometimes I'll literally have to CANCEL the race because I really want to hear my music instead!

It's some sort of glitch, unfortunately. :indiff: Probably has to do with the PS3 trying to keep track of too many things at once.

:guilty: i don't like to hear that. My ps3 plays all my msuic fine, but gt5 doesn't. I hope this will be patched in the near future.

Does anyone know what the song in the long ending movie is? The one where a car is driven around the 'Ring at dusk.

1979 by the Smashing Pumpkins.

so its not me. after all the recent patches, the music still freezes up the game? that sucks i hope its fixed soon

Believing that it's not bad is also just an opinion. There's no correct answer as to whether the soundtrack is good or bad, as it's entirely subjective. There's no universal standard on what music is good and what is bad. No single style of music appeals to everyone or to almost everyone. No single band/singer and no single song appeals to all people or even to most of them. Pick a song, any song, and there will be plenty of people that dislike it. Pick a genre of music, any genre, whether country, rock, rap, classical, or whatever, and there will be no shortage of people that hate it.

Music in GT = very good 8/10! matter of taste!

PS. Just turn "repeat - OFF" and "suffle - ON" in music options when you select your music..(easy)..

The GT5 OST is not that bad, but that music from My Chemical Romance really sucks.

That is the only one music track which sucks.. like alot alot, alot.... :scared: its not for racing, its not historic, its not for fun, its not classic, its for little girls.. what the hell it doing in GT? lmao, for sure that was the biggest question of all GT5 time I had.. how they come up with that intro song.. how hard can it be to find a good one :) no need to look further... Moon over the castle was here all the time.. but it isnt.. :(

Ok, I know this is an old thread but I'm posting here to avoid being modded upon for opening a new one on the same subject. I am having this same problem with the game every time I play, where sometimes my choices matter and I get to hear my music, and sometimes the game decides that I need to hear it's music regardless of the fact that I just told it what I want to hear. This REALLY takes away from the experience of the game for me and I think it's just silly that they can't or haven't patched this yet. Six times today this happened while I was trying to do seasonals. Six ridiculously unnecessary trips back to the option menu to reaffirm that I do still indeed for the sixth time actually want to listen to something that I like instead of poo. I know this is a rant but crap. What the crap? Someone please tell me there is a box somewhere to check or some menu somewhere that will stop this... If not, has PD or Sony addressed this in any way? Surely they must be aware of it.

I like it.

BTW, is that Smashing Pumpkins song in the OST?

Musically I'd say it's poor, by comparison to previous releases, in my opinion. There isn't really any track that particularly "grabs" me as being a great track, unlike in previous outings where there were some superb tunes. Who can ever forget the remixed version of My Favourite Game by The Cardigans, or Everything Must Go by the Manic Street Preachers!?
I was expecting too much from this outing I guess.

(EDIT: I've also recently started getting the "countdown to race start" music online looping constantly through the entire race. Not at every race, but it's only started happening after the recent patch. I race with no music on)

... then turn them off and use your own.

Its in F1 2011 aswell.

What IcemanJPN said, you may think it sucks, but i really enjoy it.

To be honest, for as little as the music is on for me (...since I don't race with music on...how could you? Ya gotta hear your engine...)it's not an issue. I'm not outside the game long enough to care. This is my first PS, and I'm an XBOX/Forza convert. I am an audio engineer / musician and I like the quality. I run a 5.1 optical hook up into my sound system. The pieces are uptempo and tasteful. That song that the kids are singing is freakin' infectious!

I don't remember either of those songs. The only old GT music I remember at all is Lenny Kravitz and Van Halen... and that one they used for the license test FAIL whatever it's called.

Much of it was good, not much was memorable, none was good enough to listen to over and over while driving(not much is, to be fair).

P.S.: That song with the kids makes me homicidal, and not in a good way. Gotta love music threads. :)

That's the point of my first post. That's exactly what I'm trying to do.

THAT song in particular is the biggest reason I want this fixed. I can't stand it, reminds me of a "feed the world" commercial or something.

I've been under the impression that that song was one that no matter what you did, you couldn't turn off. GT Auto, UCD/OCD, probably NCD, and Tuning shop along with the hideous pre-race songs are all locked and any time you have the music on you have no choice but to listen to them, even if you have custom music for the other menus and for racing. Not saying it should be that way(IMO it shouldn't), just that that was my understanding of how it worked.

I thought you were saying that it was sometimes playing it's own driving/menu music instead of yours.

Yeah I didn't even think about all the other times that you are locked into hearing their music until now. I was just upset before because it keeps switching my music back to the original soundtrack despite me repeatedly setting it to play my music instead. :banghead: Color me annoyed with this garbage. Also I can't help but to hear them spelling out "J-E-L-L-O That's why I love you so" every time that song plays. Mindnumbing noise.

I disagree ;)

I don't remember either of those songs.

A little step back to the past:

Gran Turismo 1 - Manic Street Preachers - Everything Must Go (Chemical Brothers Remix)

(Moment of awesomeness - 1:20 ish)

Gran Turismo 2 - The Cardigans - My Favourite Game (Faithless Remix)

In response to any comments like "don't listen to it" or "use your own", I do that already, as I only use the music for the replay and menus. I just feel that the tracks in this particular release are pretty week by comparison to previous offerings.

Well, that explains that then. The first video wouldn't play in americastan, and the second one prompted me to go and get out GT1 and GT2 just to make sure that really was the song in mine.

Both were the same songs as posted. Both completely unmemorable. The first one was a bit better, at least it didn't put me to sleep. Still, neither made me want to get in a car for any reason other than to get away from this annoying dance club. And maybe to put something with a decent beat on the radio.

Pretty much every non-electronic song in GT5 is as good or better for me. OK, maybe not the hymn.

Did I mention I love music threads? :D

No offense intended, of course.

None taken >:0)
That's why I stuck away from saying "good" or "bad", everyone has their own musical tastes and there will be differences of opinion between them. I'll freely admit I'm a dance-head, but every now and then I'll be blown away by a rock track, or some other genre. I'm open minded when it comes to music, and can just as often be found listening to the original Samuel Barber version of Adagio For Strings as the William Orbit version. (remixed by Tiesto, but not his release of it) That said, there's a lot of "formulaic" garbage coming out now which really makes for uninspired listening.

PS - The "fixed" songs which you cannot remove from the playlist really get annoying after a while. I think it took me 2 days to despise the "child" song!!

Yeah, that was what I was kind of getting at, but I see it wasn't really necessary. No right answers and all. I actually find the GT5 music rather refreshing compared to the usual fare, but I still turn it off most of the time, like in almost any game.

Gran Turismo needs more feeder and daiki kasho. 90% of the racing music in this game is undesired in my opinion. Menu music is great though. Love the New car dealership music. To me it just sounds expensive and relaxed - fits it's role well. The used car dealership however... hate it.

I think the first GT was the only one I heard music to while racing. GT2 had some nice tunes, but nicer engine sounds, thus I turned the music off and it's been like that ever since.

The rumble of the ACR Viper is the only music I hear.
