At the moment I am slightly annoyed.

I just spent around 2 hours driving the Grand Valley 300 endurance. I was using a mildly tuned Viper GTS (about 500bhp) and by the end of the race I had a lead of about 30 seconds over the Raybrig and Arta NSX's (they were always close to each other, although their positions occasionally changed when either car pitted). I just crossed the start/finish line for the 60th lap with pretty worn out tyres, so I thought 'hell i'm just going to ease the car around the last lap', then I was just about to apex (slowly) into the first corner and the screen went all jagged and the game completely froze. All I was left with was a continually rumbling controller.

****.

Anyone else had anything like this?

And yes I am slightly pissed off.

This has happened to me before, though mine never froze completely. I've had the screen shake and all and I tried cleaning the disk and it still does it, though only on one race in one series (can't remember which off the top of my head).

Might be a scratch on the disk or something, though I can't really see how...

Anyhow, fair warning before you give up and just try the race again, my similar problem was recurring. :indiff:

Your PS2 must not be in a very ventelated spot. For me I have never had that problem do to the fact that I always have my fan on high. You don't need to have anything blocking any of the sides so A.) The Playstation doesn't get too hot. B.) So that the vents on the Playstation can actually do their job. Hope that helps.

Well i've just looked at the disk, but it's no got any major scratches (just lots of tiny ones that you get from frequent use), i'm going to try the race again but with a faster car.

Although the Major factor being my machine is chipped and that i'm playing the Japanese version of the game (Not a pirate copy of the Japanese version, but the real deal). I was thinking it might be the time taken, but I think it took me longer to do the professional Japanese GT cup, than to do the entire enduro. So I can't see it being the PS2 overheating.

That's the first time i've had something happen to me like that with my PS2 though.

Edit:Also the room my PS2 is located, is probably one of the coldest rooms in the house.

I've had a similar incident with the PSone.
I was racing the enduro at Laguna Seca (GT2). I was on the 88th or 89th (of 90) lap when my second son's girlfriend came thru the living room not paying attention and dragging her durn feet.:irked:
She managed to get tangled in the controller wire pulling the entire PSone from it's perch and pulling the wires out of the back, rendering me without power to the unit with less than 5 minutes to go in the race.

Today, my wife came in from shopping. I was running the Super Speedway enduro, and folding laundry.
On lap 66 she wants me to stop so we can put in a movie.
She was gracious enough to allow me the 20 minutes necessary to finish the race. (My fifth son also deliberately moved really slowly finding the DVD's to give me a little extra time.)

Heh, well at least you knew what caused your problem Although I think that must have happened to quite a few people here. :D

The feelings are mutual.

Uh, so I guess all I can say is that has never happened to me before. Which is very grood.

And #5 isn't "the baby":D
AS I've said repeatedly, If you find a woman that will put up with your crap, wash your drawers, and will stilll have sex with you after she really knows you, you better keep that one.

I can understand your fury, Race Idiot. Anything like that has never happened with me in GT3, but something equally frustrating has happened with other games. :banghead:

Better keep my current lady then :D

But there is no way she will give birth to 5 (or more) children ...

How many "Little Gils" do you have running around ??

"slightly" pissed off sounds like a major understatement
I reckon my controller wouldve visited the garden outside my window...

Six, but "little" is not a word to use in describing them.
My third is 6'1" and down to 275lb. He's all of 15 years old.
My sixth (the baby) is 11 and bigger than the third was when he was 13!

I apologize for your loss. Hope you got it on the second try. Try cleaning the laser surface, it might help.
