Mustang GT

I'm having trouble setting up my mustang for drifting. I've asked for drift settings for this car in the past, but they don't seem to work for me. Does anybody have any suggestions, or there own settings. It would really help if you could share them. Thanks.

First off: try searching this forum, I think I remember seeing a topic dedicated to this car a while back.

Second: I would advise changing the weight balance to take weight from the front and place it in the rear. This car has heavy understeer because it has so much weight in the front.

Oops, it seems that I made a mistake. The thread that I saw was for the Nissan 350z.

Anyways here's how I drift the Mustang GT:

First off: settings. Set the weight balance to the rear. This is the most important because otherwise it will understeer.

Second: The technique that I find works best is a mixture of power-over and feint drift. Here is an example of how I approach a RIGHT hand turn in the Mustang GT '05:

1) Power-over like for a left turn -> countersteer.
2) Add countersteer, get it to whip around so that it's now facing the right way for the turn.
3) Countersteer.
4) Add a lot of throttle and enough countersteer to keep it sideways.

Practice whatever works for you with the mustang, but don't get discouraged, it's quite difficult to get sideways.

Transfering the weight to the rear seemned to do the trick. I'm making adjustments, and it seems to be better. Thanks for the advice.

P.S. while were on the subject of mustangs, and drifting. Vaughn Gitten Jr in his falken mustang, just won the D1gp USA vs. Japan!!

theres one other way to get around the understeer...

setting all the balance to the front will make the car easy to control going straight while setting it to the back allows easier weight transfer.

while trying to find good settings for my mustang gt, i always failed trying to make it drift like an ordinary japanese lightweight car

so i put everything to the front and set the gear ratios up so the tires would always spin if i floored it.

doing those two things will allow easy control during its drift, the only thing is it does nothin but spinng the back tires, but i feel okay with it now cause i seem to be getting the same lap times when the wheels spin from the start of the lap to the end anyway

i like ken gushi's mustang more

Yea i put a 75 pound ballast in the rear..and it seems to be better. Mine spins the back tires too, but i can overcome that. I'll buy a full customizable transmisson latter and mess with it.

P.S. Gushi's was cool until they put on the carbon fiber hood, doors, and trunk.
