Is there no way to mute other peoples mics? it seems bizarre that i would have to listen to other people when i dont want to. i cant think of a single other game that wont let you mute other people if you dont want them chattering away all the time.

am i missing something or is it really not there?

... You can hover over their name and hit "X".
It brings up a menu, in it is the option to mute.
If the "mute" option is grayed out it means they don't have a mic on.

The easiest way is to use a bluetooth mic, but don't attach it to your ear.

Yeah, but only from the pre-race menu the only problem I have is when people join mid race.
This is why PSN needs party chat.

Hate it when people have their mike on constantly. A few days ago, this guy did nothing but breath into his mic.

Actually I'm pretty sure you hit triangle.

Slightly different but, how do I no if my own mic is muted?

I only got my ps3 headset yesterday so sorry if its abit of a noob question.... I don't want to be a weird breathing person lol :)

"Click" your own name - the option "mute summets-or-other audio" appears if you have a mic connected. No idea what it says once you've muted, though...

Happened to me a few days ago too. Unfortunately he didn't start doing it until the middle of the race so I couldn't mute him. It sounded creepy.

I have always wanted mic stats. It would indicate the number of people who have muted you, but also it would have an indicator of quality: 'too much static', 'breaking up', 'too many background noises', etc. People would click on your profile and click on bad mic options. The problem as I see it is I'm not always sure if my own mic is working well for everyone and people rarely tell each other in a room of randoms. If I'm unintelligible I want to know and a mic stat indicator annonymously filled out by others wouold help everyone who uses a mic. The same would go for good quality mics you could rank them positively too.

As flaky as many of the servers are, I am just not sure the whole infrastructure is ready for live chat, yet. I'd rather have low lag racing than bandwidth taken up so I can hear some pre-teen cackle about just shunting you.

I'd like to see in-race muting of ALL mikes, and just have them come on at the end of the race. A simple 'Mute All' available in race with a simple click (horn button, maybe?) would also help with the way things are now.
