OK - Final results are here. Some tight races at the top of the standings.

Smallhorses takes the win this week, along with the fastest lap. 4 Wins out of 8 races and 5 fastest laps. A dominant performance for sure.

But MadMax 86 takes second, and solidifies his win for the series overall. Just 3 wins and 3 fastest laps for Mad Max, but his other 4 races were second places finishes, making the difference.

I managed to edge out homeforsummer this week by 0.227 seconds after over 17 minutes of racing.

My every week participation along with 4 finishes in 3rd place allowed me to round out the series podium.

Congrats to all who managed a clean couple of laps here at the Green Hell, and thanks to everyone for your participation here. 👍

Catch ya later.

Kevin

Isn't the handicaps are the same as round 7?!!

Kevin posted that the Handicaps are locked for the last 2 races and we are free to try round 8 on the same handicaps as 7:odd:

Whoops:scared: I'll fix that.

Whoops:scared: I'll fix that.

Thanks. :)

I tried to get a run in at this yesterday. I tried AI 10, and was able to pass the 5th place car but kept having to fight with 4th place passing me in the straights so I could pass him back in the corners. Next, I ran against an AI 7 lineup and passed all of them by T3. I had a couple of good laps and was still in the lead coming down the main straight on the second lap. One of the S2000's I was running against caught my draft and decided it would be a good idea to punt me off the track just before Hohenrain. :ouch: That was even after I moved all the way to the right in anticipation of him trying to slip by.

This will be one of my last efforts on GT4, so I'll still find time to get in a good run at some point. 👍

EDIT : Got my run tonight. Had a great +7 AI lineup of -

Nissan Skyline 300GT '01
Honda S2000 '99
Honda S2000 '01
Infiniti G35 Sedan '03
Alfa Romeo 147 GTA '02

Passed the Alfa at Hatzenbach, the Infiniti at Hochenhein, the first S2000 just after Flugplatz, and the last 2 on Kottenborn, just before entering the Aremburg curve and T2.

No AI contact, all clean passes.

I built up a lead of about 11 seconds and finished about 6 seconds ahead of one of the S2000's at the line.

A satisfying race, no matter my standing in the final results here. :)

Here are the splits at T3, 6 and 9 from my fastest lap (#2) -

2:09.536
4:32.452
6:48.488

Submitting now, good luck to all.

Kevin

Note to RACECAR & EDK, the race deadline is listed as Monday 9th November instead of Sunday! ;)

Managed to have a quick run at this tonight so it's not nagging away at me after last week's DNF, and distracting me from the important stuff I need to get done! :indiff:

Got a run I'll be submitting on Sunday, just one point of AI contact when the IROC-Z Camaro tags the back of me going into Aremberg. :grumpy:

Lineup:
Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z Concept '88
Honda S2000 '01
Infiniti G35 Sedan '03
Honda S2000 '04
Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5 - 16 EvoII '91

Passed Merc before Hatzenbach, S2000 '04 before Hocheichen and Infiniti & Chevy together under braking for Aremberg. Had to follow the S2000 '01 all the way round to Wehrseifen before I could pass him.
Eventually finished 13s ahead of S2000 '01 but not without a seriously wiggly moment at Schwalbenschwanz on lap 2!

Splits at T3, T6 & T9 on lap 2 (following Kevin's lead.)

T3 2'07.266
T6 4'30.080
T9 6'42.588

Good luck

to everyone & I'll see you at the final results table on Sunday! 👍

*facepalm* what is wrong with me? I'll fix it right away.

I also gave this a go last night...
I got almost the same line up as Smallhorses except that I got a Vauxhall and an Alfa instead of the Benz 190 E and the 2nd S2000.

Ding dong of me :dunce: was trying to catch EDK's splits on my first lap  :ouch: :dopey:
I was like how in the Hel* did do that...until I decided to just race and on my second lap I realized it... :sly: of me!!!!?

Since it was late and don't remember the splits but i know they are a few .0xx of EDK's splits.

Methinks I'll attempt this on Saturday, looking forward to trying out the 'Ring in the MX5.

It's really very fun. I think it would be a great hotlap event, I might have had more inclination to test the limits in certain areas of the track. But it took me so many runs to get cleanly past the AI that I was only REALLY comfortable with pushing it up to T3.

I'm always slow in the section from T6-T9, as you can see when comparing my splits to Nick's.

But I got the sense that if I was more comfortable in that area of the track, I could have pushed the car a lot harder. There's a license test that's only that section in an RX-7. I've golded it, but I guess I need to go back and run it to make myself more familiar with it.

Anyhow, hope you enjoy it like I did. It's actually quite gratifying to get a 100% clean run in and not really have the AI slow you down. If you get the right lineup, it can be done. 👍

This was fun. I've never had a better time pushing the car to its limits. I definately agree with EDK that it would be a good Hot lap event and in fact, I'm for having one.

 Sort of the "unofficial" season Warm-down for the MX-5 Cup?
I'd be down for a Nurb' hotlapping session! :D

Time submitted

Gave it a few tries and came up with a time I was happy with.

Lineup: (AI +10)

Subaru IMPREZA Wagon Sti VerVI'99
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R '89
BMW M Coupe '98
Pontiac GTO 5.7 Coupe '04
Subaru IMPREZA Coupe R Sti Ver VI '99

passed those bolded before T3 on 1st lap

I even cauth up with the SKYLINE GT-R '89 and caught some draft.

finished 4th right after IMPREZA Coupe R , it passed me at last straith and blocked till the finish line.

On the replay it's actually more interesting to watch the rise of IMPREZA Coupe R than my careful race :D

splits from 2nd lap:

T3 2'07.408
T6 4'29.153
T9 6'43.415

Time submitted 14:02 GMT

Took me a couple of attempts to get a clean run - on the bumpy surface an MX5 on cold tyres is quite a skittish little thing and my lines were a bit interesting as I both tried to keep it on the circuit and pass other cars. In one attempt (with AI on 7) I actually managed to pass the whole field by Adenaur Forest, but in sneaking down the inside of the last car (an IROC-Z) into the quick left hander I sailed straight over the curb and four wheels onto the grass on the exit, so had to give up and restart. In another attempt, the S2000 squeezed me onto the grass in the braking area for Aremburg...

Was against two Skyline sedans, an S2000, a Celica GT-Four and the IROC, and in my clean run I sneaked past the GT-Four quite early, and then had to follow the S2000 for a bit before I passed him around the outside of Schwedenkreuz, which was a bit of a "hope for the best" moment that luckily paid off. I got one Skyline sedan by Adenaur Forest, the IROC into Speigelkurve and the final Skyline by Wehrseifen. Won the race by roughly ten seconds in the end - the MX5 is much slower on the long straight sections so even though my lead went up to 14 seconds a couple of times, they always pulled it back by the end of the lap.

I'll try and get a photomode pic of the S2000 pass up here shortly!

Results are up on post 2. 👍

Thanks to all for your participation here. :)

It was my pleasure to not just compete, but to also keep the series going. This is definately a series worth participating in. Thank you EDK for helping manage the series:tup:

Thanks to you as well, and I have to agree. 👍

A couple more things. First, I've attached my NTSC replay in .max format.

Secondly, I have some pics of my last couple passes for all to view.

First, here is my pass of the S2000 after Flugplatz -

Next, I made the same "hope for the best" pass as homeforsummer did, only I was passing 2 cars. :scared: Here's a few photos of that -

Thanks again to everyone that ran the races here, there's no series without racers! 👍
Special thanks, of course, to our series organisers Camyron & Kevin!
Top job of stepping into the breach and making this works so well!
If there's going to be a 2nd series, count me "In like Flynn" already!

Another awesome week, and a thoroughly enjoyable race! It's a absolute delight to chuck the Miata into almost every bend on this track, and it left me grinning from ear to ear! :D
Congratulations to MadMax86 for taking the overall win, and I'm glad I was able to push him closely right to the finish! :trouble:

Here's my replay too:

First time I've been on the computer for a while so only just seen these results :) Well done to all for the whole series, and thanks to the organisers - it's been great fun racing in the series and it's all been organised so well. That result at the 'Ring certainly was close between myself and EDK, that's cutting it fine on a track like that!

I'm glad I had the chance to do something like this, as at the moment I have far too much going on to be able to compete in another series like this (as you can see from me having taken over a week to reply to this thread) so it'll probably be both the first and last online series you'll see me in.

Sorry for the delay, I was ment to post the replay alot earlyer, but had 100+ replays on memorycards.
I was ment to post the round 7 replay in the round 7 thread, but it got closed before I got the chance.

It took awhile to get them all sorted, but I've got the 2 last round replays up for viewing.

I've copied you post to the week 7 thread and deleted the week 7 replay from this post and the week 8 replay from that one.

Thanks again for your participation and posting the replays. 👍
