MX5 Endurance race

Er yeah since I started playing GT3 again a few weeks back I've got much better but I still can't crack the Mazda emdurance race. Any ideas?

The car has to be a stock Mazda MX-5, but make sure you're using the most powerful of them.
That means Mazda MX-5 1.8 RS. (At least it's its PAL name, there is a thread were Famine explains what the MX-5 name differences are, if you fancy a search). If it's not a prize car you should first run about 200 miles then change oil, so that it reaches its maximum power.
The rest is practice.

The Miata LS for the NTSC version is the second-gen 1.8 litre Miata. Even without the run in, using an oil change and T2 tires should give you a handy victory with one pitstop on lap 20.

Der Alta has done it in the cheapest 1.6l Miata on Sport tires, but that was about 30 seconds out of my grasp. If I had gone to T2s, or up to the 1.8 litre first-gen car, I could have won it.

Look on the Writeups board for Roadster Enduro.

T2's are the Super Slicks. With those tires and any Miata, you can win the Roadster Enduro with relative ease. The AI will pit about twice as often if not more.

No. The 1.8RS is more powerful and quicker than the 1.8i. The 1989-shape cars (pop-up headlights) feature a more powerful, quicker, cheaper 1.6 than 1.8. But the 1998-shape 1.8RS is the quickest of the lot.

1.8RS on T2s front, T4s rear - pitting every 8 laps should see you home in plenty of time. Don't worry about the car which will probably pull away from you at the start - he's on T7s and will pit every 2nd lap (although I could still lap quicker than him in the car I described).

What he ^^^ said and don't forget, this race is just like the F1 races... It is all about smooth... smooth... smooth... Ditch the ASM and lower the TCS and the car handles like a dream as long as you aren't impatient. Let it make it's simulated weight shift before you force the corners. Brake in straight lines. Find and use the Apexes. Round the track out (use the whole track). Momentum is paramount. Consistent... Best race in the joint to teach you the fastest way around a track... smooth.

The LS (or RS) will win with T2 tires all around. Although I haven't tried it, I'm sure I could win without the oil change since I've lapped the AI. I might give it a go with one of the slower Miatas some day just to see, only thing is I really don't like close Endurance races...spending a couple hours on a race and not getting a prize car would be a complete waste of time.

dont worry about the AI passing u, because they have softer tyres... and dont be afraid to slide here and there.. i just used super slicks

I did the 2 hour Trial Mountain race (stock cars only, tyre changes allowed) in a Honda Integra Type-R, for the hell of it. I finished second, but on the lead lap with the winning Supra. It was great.

I would have to agree with that... The most fun I have had with this game are where the competition is tight whether I won or not.

Check out this link: It started out as a write-up on the Tokyo endurance by LoudMusic and ended up being a fest of trying to make that an extremely competitive race with the Junior Racecars of the game. We went so far as to modify the racecars HP up or down to get it to be as tight as possible to figure out exactly what it would "actually" take to win the race (driver influenced of course.) Couple of us lost that race a time or two just trying to get there. UB57 finally got the best run with a .096 MOV...

I ran the Roadster enduro last night with the 1.6 MX-5. I fitted T2 tires and oil change. I lapped the complete field once. Pitted once at lap 21. Too easy. The car had 124 bhp if my memory is correct.

After weighing it up, I measured the following:

Mx-5 1.8RS 142hp 1040kg
MX-5 1.8i 157hp 1070kg

Since the 1.8i has the better PTW ratio i went with that on T2s. Never pitted in the 40 laps. The T7 guy pitted 13 times. MOV was about 75 seconds. End of story. Someone close this thread.

Use the hardest tyres and you'll be invincible in this enduro.
And it won't be difficult to control your car because of the low speed.

It's my favorite enduro. You guys who need to drive like monkeys on crack are missing at least half the point.

On that note, don't play the game for the prize... play it for the challenge. How fast can I get around this track with what I've been given to run the track in? Am I on the fastest line? Would it improve my speed around this corner if I use the rumble strip to shift the attitude of the car? How many of those really fast laps can I string together? Am I consistently taking the same line?

There seem to be a couple of recurring thoughts on enduros in general that keep popping up both of which are reflected here. Either enduros are "boring" (doesn't matter which) or just the opposite as neon_duke points out here. I hear the "boring" part regarding some of the series races as well. Matter of fact, there is a thread of late specifically about that.

For me, endurance races offer so much toward the betterment of driving in the game that it is hard to understand how any one of them could be described as boring. That is to say, unless you take a cannon to the orchestra and call it the rythm section. Even then, there is much to garner.

For example, after running this particular enduro at one point, I went back and reran both TT6 and S1. The time improvement was remarkable. You learn the line around a track, you learn how to maximize momentum and minimize braking, you learn consistency and so many other things. All of that shows up in all the racing you do elsewhere in the game whether on the same track or not.

What OLR racing I have done is a lot like endurance races. You start out the beginning of the week on a particular track running what you think were pretty good times but by the end of the week, you are running times you would never have believed possible with the exact same car.

Of course, none of what I just said makes any sense if your point in playing the game is just to beat the game. Most anyone can do that. Although even that being the point, the fastest route to the end of the game is the fastest way around the tracks... enduros give you that.

I wouldn't necessarily call that "the cheapest"... You get the LS free from the B license test, and I don't recall it being too difficult to win the Roadster Endurance on plain normal tires without an oil change.

Speaking of which, you pretty much have to stick with normal tires if you want it to be any sort of challenge at all. I mean, it's just sad the way the AI pits, and that's the only way you'll be pitting as often as they do.

WTF is up with this? I ran the 1.8 new model but the stupid Ls kicked my arse. Hey pitted every 3 laps and I pitted once the entire race. Hy comes i n first I end up in 5th because i get an attitude with the car : ). i had no chance what so eve.r. :irked:

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

You have every chance.

Run T4 front, T5 rear. Pit every 8 laps. You'll win - by a lap.

This enduro is not really hard. I won it with a brand new 1.8i, without changing tire, and by a lap. But i've alsmost reachead the 100%, I do have a bit of training now.

Anyway, enduros are interessant races cause you have plenty of time to see how fast can you drive, with a specific car. I think it's far more interessant than a long championship ... :sly:

Perhaps that attitude will tell you something. This race has been won in the cheapest available Miata using 5000cr Sports tires. Even 'way back in the day when I could barely drive, I ran it in the LS with T5s all around. Even pitting every 8 laps it was an easy victory.

Work with the car instead of fighting it. Many people hate the Spec Miata Enduro, but it's probably the most pleasantly relaxing race in the entire game.

Ya this one is pretty much the easiest race in the game, beyond the beginner league that is. Just keep at it, you'll get it.

yeah, i loved that race. the one on apricot hill. Especially once the tires were a little worn down so i had an excuse to do some serious drifting. I never really cared about miatas but after that race i had a new found respect for the car. that thing is fun to drive :)

I love races like this, halfway through you find yourself in a groove. Then you find yourself adjusting your style for tire wear. I end up running my fastest laps on each course in the middle of enduro's. Ps2racer just keep on trying, it may be annoying but you will learn more doing this than you will thrashing around a 1300hp GTone.

Just ran this race again last week with my Mariner Blue Miata LS, and forgot to buy race tires. I ran the enduro with Normal tires, and even though I had to pit every 4 laps, I still had the race in the bag by lap 15 or so. You can win this enduro with any Miata, provided you have long-lasting tires.

However, I keep winning the purple F688/S every time...three races, three wins, three of the same F1 cars! So all of you who discount the Miata race, you have a good chance of winning an F1 car, or at least, winning 400,000 credits with a car you can buy on the first day.
