The title sais it all. My GF is still on her first 360. I will be going on my 3rd. So last night we put my HD on her 360 and spent about 3 hours gifting her all of my cars from Forza 2. She also had to sell me a lot of her cars that way she got the money that I had. Which was over 136 million from selling my Eleanor cars. It was a complete pain but now she has all my cars and all my money. I also think I might have been able to save some of the game progress to my memory card.

Tonight after work I will just go buy another 360 and then send this one in to my warranty place. A couple weeks later I will recieve a check for the full price of the 360. This is what I had to do for the first one and this is what I will have to do for the 2nd 360.

It happened when I tried to play the Stuntman demo. I am sure thats just coincidence because games dont crash 360s..

I love this console so much and all the games I just wish the 360 was a more reliable system.

Just back your stuff up any chance you get. Because its not a question of "IF" it will die its "When will it die?".

We think my girlfriends 1 year old 360 is going to go soon too. The tray only opens 50% of the time and her 360 freezes up a lot.

My first one lasted 4 months the 2nd one lasted 8 months. So if I can get a year out of this new one I am buying tonight then I will be happy.

I think myn might be about to pop....It's starting to freeze up on forza 2(only in the car selection screen...). I can't reclaim my warrenty either(check out my "post your 360's" thread). Oh well it is a launch day console and has had about 2+ hours a day since then(on average), ncluding quite a few 24 hour stints downloading demo's etc...

That really sucks. At least Microsoft is covering the breakage though. I was reading a story on Digg last night about how Microsoft (or was it someone else?) that EVERY X360 has some sort of defect in it, and its just a matter of time before it blows-up.

As for mine, it has yet to do so. Forza 2 gives it some problems, but it has otherwise been pretty good to me (only a few other freezes in PGR3 and Crackdown).

My thought process is leading towards having the 360 break, getting my money back, and applying it to an Elite. We'll see...

Thats pretty much my theory too. Is that at some point each one will fail depending on how much you play. I have played over 97 games in the last 12 months since I bought my first one. So I put a LOT of hours onto these machines. So does my girlfriend. Its still sad to not know day to day if or when its going to fail. But they eventually will. The more you play the more likely something will happen. If your already having freezing problems in those games then yeah its only a matter of time and yours will be gone too. I suggest you back up your games at least every couple weeks.
I cant help but laugh at the people that claim they have no problems since launch. Then you see that they only played 10 games. Of course they wont have problems, they dont play the thing. lol
I heard the PS3 is doing real bad too. Its a shame these new consoles arent more reliable. The funny thing is I still have my very very first original Genesis and it works perfect to this day. Its over 15 years old too. Even my original xbox never had a single problem.
I still love the 360 just wish it was more reliable.

I have my forth Xbox360... luckily we have a free 2 year warrenty on electronic products by law and another year from MS.... so 3 years in total. As long as the service hotline is free and the exchange process is short I can live with the problems, it's kinda poor nevertheless.

I'm sure you did.
Ditto.

Source, Camaroboy? It's more networking issues than anything. But that's to be expected - Xbox Live has had much more experience.

Edit: He's being sarcastic. He means surely you haven't heard of issues?

It was announced that the PS3 only sold around 80,000 PS3s last month but sold around 170,000 PS2. I am leaving work in 2 minutes so I dont have time to get a link to the article. Just do a search for PS3 sales it should come right up.
Oh ok he was being sarcastic. Heck both sytems have way too many problems. The 360 and the PS3.

I meant provide a link to where you found out the PS3 is unreliable.

Do provide a link when you get the time.

Its a shame these new consoles arent more reliable.

Although I haven't heard of as many problems with the PS3, it wouldn't really surprise me that more modern equipment breaks down more than older stuff. Considering the power and capabilities they stuff into these things, the chances for some wire or circuit to go poof just seems to be higher.

I would have to say, however, that Sony most likely has a lot more experience building hardware than Microsoft so, all things being equal, PS3's are probably more dependable.

Well it looks like this 360 failure was not a good experience. I guess somehow I didnt have a warranty on this one after they sent me the refund on the first 360. They sent me the money but I guess the warranty was only good for one repair. Now I have to actually send it to microsoft which takes 4-6 weeks to get repaired. I also only send the console and leave the HD, controllers, faceplate, and all the wires here at home. They send me an empty box and I put this broken 360 into it and ship it to them. This just completely sucks but at least I will have a 360 one way or another until the other one gets repaired. At least its free too since its the 3 red lights.
So I went out and bought another new one anyway. If my old one doesnt get repaired in time then I will just return this new 360 within 30 days for a full refund. Then just buy another one and keep doing that until my old 360 arrives.

Ive played about 50 games with over 100-150hr's in quite a few of them(forza 1, TDU, Oblivian and a few other's) and well over 50 hr's in most of the other game's(about 40 hrs in bankhot billiards 2 lol), and mine's a launch day console...

Uh, wow... I wanna see the expression on the clerk's face when he hands you the refund money and then you turn around and ask to buy another 360. :p

Well I got the coffin on friday. For those that dont know the coffin is the empty box that microsoft sends you to put the dead 360 into. lol Then you ship it back to them to get repaired.
So now I just wait.....and enjoy the new 360 I bought while I wait. hahah

Mine died earlier today and is back to life and I've just loaded Forza. WTF? I thought the three lights meant it was terminal?
Its not always terminal but 98% of the time it is. It also means that eventually yours will probably die.

Yeah, I've heard they can come back to life... but don't expect it to last for very much longer.

Well it looks like my repaired 360 will be arriving today or tomorrow.

So grand total from the day I called to get it repaired to the day it returned was 24 days.

24 days since the first call

17 days since I shipped in the coffin.

This will be my 3rd 360 and I will probalby just trade this one in for an Elite within the next month. We will probably trade my girlfriends in for an Elite too before her 360 dies.

Well it did come in yesterday and its a new unit with new part numbers. There was a note enclosed that said they sent me a new unit to speed up the time instead of repairing my old one. Its definetly a lot quieter than my other 2 360s and it doesnt even make that start up noise that all the other ones made. So hopefully this 3rd 360 will be good to me. I am not sure how to tell if it has the new chip that everyone is talking about.
