I wasn't signed into XBL when I did my transfer. All of my downloaded content worked just fine.

I read that somebody transferred data and the downloads that he payed for could only be used when you are on XBL. It doesn't matter if you are signed in when you transfer.

How do you actually get the faceplate off?

I remember when I got my 360 a year ago, I couldn't see how the faceplate came off, but as I intended to swap it over, I just pulled at it and off it clipped.

I apologize, I wrote that incorrectly. I meant I had no access to XBL, due to the lack of network available for where I was, when I did the swap. So, I didn't even have access to XBL at all, and my DLC was 100% usable.
