Hey everyone! I've lurked a bit around and saw the amazing runs you all did for the Seasonals, etc, and thought to share the ones I've made so far as well.
I tried to pick cars that weren't overkill even when tuned upwards to 650PP, and did these cars prove a challenge for me and my DS3! In the end the objective was chasing down the white rabbit with Racing Hard tires.

My laps aren't perfect and I know there's lots of room for improvement; let me know if you consistently see me doing something off. I'd be happy to get some criticism if it'll improve lap times! Thanks for watching!

I'm unsure how best to post the videos, I see the YT tag, but is it really alright to spam all those embedded links? I'll test one out on Laguna Seca but use traditional url tags for the ring videos:

Since I didn't run much green hell as much as I should have in the past, I originally used Racing Softs on the RX-7 LM Race Car.

Next I dropped down to Racing Hards with a slightly more sluggish car:

The ultimate in pain and suffering for me (which is good, I definitely learned the course better overall from this), winning by technicality:

Chose a different flavor for the Laguna Seca one:

Suzuka's out!

It won't improve your lap times but it would be better viewing if you tried to overtake correctly instead of ploughing through the AI.
You know make a bit more of a race of it. 👍

Yeah unfortunately I tend to dive into the corner and hope to come out unscathed. I keep thinking of all that precious time lost, so there's probably only a couple of proper passes done in all those videos, even the pass on the F1 at Laguna Seca was aggressive.

I'm reminded of Allan McNish last year at Sarthe, haha.

What I noticed, and is quite frustrating, the GT500s go even slower around corners when you're coming right behind them, which bottlenecks the road even more.

For example, while I was running the Lexus IS F RM, if I do a perfect line through the first two corners (rarely), the first GT500 car will block my exit line, and not only that, slow down to 170 kph forcing me to slow down to 150 to change my line and accelerate back to passing speed. That's quite a big loss in time. On the other hand if I fall back just enough I can out-in-in for a pass at +200 kph and it won't slow down as much. [This doesn't happen in my video because I clipped the strips which flies me off two meters]

From since I started these videos to now, I made a slight improvement in cleaner passes, slightly. Until I slam into the F1!

Nice job on Laguna Seca! I gave it a couple of tries a while ago, and haven't won it yet myself (vs the F1 GTR on R/H anyway.) I didn't think you were treating the AI all that badly, really. They don't react to faster cars behind them very well anyway, so it's pretty tough to win this without a little pushing.

You're using automatic, right? I suppose MT would probably give you your best laptime improvements. (I say this as someone still stuck on auto myself.)

Thanks for watching!

I've been using MT for all my races, but I almost considered using AT on the Lexus IS F. 8 gears doesn't make MT any easier.

I just realized, for some reason the Hauppauge DVR reversed the sound channels in the Laguna Seca video too. My latest Nurburgring one also had reversed audio which I corrected. So this might have something to do with the new drivers I installed a few weeks ago from their support site.

Oh really! Sorry bout that, I thought I recognized some cues pointing to AT.

No it's alright. My TV has a 3.5mm analog stereo jack I can plug in headphones, so I listen closely to the revs to decide when to shift. Sometimes I shift up instinctively even when I'm just about to brake right before a corner.

I don't remember how AT feels like anymore, do they shift early when you're burning rubber or wait until you're at the normal speed to shift up? If I'm on a straight line I'll redline and burn rubber until about the normal shift speed, or shift earlier if I'm still exiting to bring down the torque.

It was fun watching your videos. Thinking about you sitting in your chair racing this it seemed like you really focused on the back of the cars you approach and not on your attack line for the next corner or the exit of the corner. Exits are where the safest and most technical passes are made. The set up is everything.

I get this feeling because the pitch of your nose when you are up close behind a car and approaching them in corners you tend to try and stagger your position to keep an eye on the corner, but get a late apex and thus a slower exit. I visually aim the nose of my car to the furthest point through the corner that I can see.

The most prime example in your video of this felt like when you ran the Lexus IS. As you approached the last couple sweepers before the first carousel, primarily the uphill right hand sweeper, you were pitching the nose in like you were taking an early apex and probably cut your speed by five mph on the exit. Remember there are some vertical g's being unloaded during your downhill approach and the setup/transition into the corners has to be smooth to control the release/rebound of the suspension.

The first video was similar and you seemed very concerned about the car in front of you and wanting to just get the late brakes on it to force it outside on the approach.

Hope this helps, and trust me I'm twice as critical on myself. Its time for me to get a good dvr to record my sessions.

I do feel very concerned at trying to pass cars in order to catch up to the F1, it really does look like sacrificing the good line to do so. You're right I do look at the car in front and not the corner haha. I have an unlisted upload of my Lexus IS runs, in the same sweeper and following carousel, I lost sight of the corner thinking about the Zonda (put brakes on way too late). How he slowed down enough for me to catch up at the carousel doesn't make sense at all.

Thanks for the advice and your time watching them! I'll try to keep my eyes on the road more. My control with the DS3 doesn't have the finesse I'd like to have, it sure doesn't help the weight transitions when I snap into a corner so if I paid more attention to what mattered more I'll be in better position. 💡

Suzuka's out!
Tried to be as clean as possible but a few bumps/corner slices here or there. One okay hot lap sprung out on lap 4 which made me run a little more conservative last lap for the win:

Arghh, 1:56's with the Camaro! I can only get that with the McLaren, and not yet consistently enough to win.

Nice driving!

Thanks for watching!

I use the Camaro to force myself to learn the course intricacies better, which pays off. Took many laps/tries to get consistent 1:56s. Those S-curves always mind rape me haha; not even quantum theory can predict my line through them the next time around !
