Hello.

Yesterday I played GT5 without strange sings...my days of gaming (in save data) was nearly 2000.

But today I almost get heart attack...! My save is 0%, A and B level are 0, cars in garage 0,...(was 1100, all models), everything gone! Only my trophies and photos are survived...

What can I do? Please for help.

If you don't have a save game saved. Then you are going to have restart your game again unfortunately.

Well at least that's what I think.

I don't know what was the reason of deleting savegame by PS3...

So...let's battle again.

You can learn how to make a backup of your savefile first, before it happens again next time. Maka a backup on USB drive and transport the file to another computer.

Aaaargh - my game save data got corrupted, my fault, I tried to switch the PS3 off whilst GT5 was saving

So I just lost my main account game save, Level 40 A-Spec & B-spec, 1,196 cars (almost everyone)

Fortunately I backed up onto a memory stick the day before yesterday!
So lost a little progress - I did a bit of house-keeping: updating favourite, changing oil, painting & purchasing wheels

Please Please back up your game saves

[I know this message has been repeated several times, but I would have been a bit annoyed with myself If I had of lost so much - I hope it reminds others to back up their game save]

Interestingly, the both Toyota 86 GT '12 & Toyota FT-86 II Concept were sent as gift tickets. So sent the concept ticket to my second account! Seemed rude not too!

I wrote this only a few days ago, to the title of this thread. I am not gloating - but hoping that in writing this it inspires others to back up

It is a basic rule, everything you have digitally, that you'd be annoyed about losing: game saves, coursework, photos ...backup
My most valuable are pictures, backed up on laptop, 2 external drives - one of these is elsewhere ... and I'm still paranoid...

lose a game save, you can get everything back. lose my pictures of my children growing up, and I'll never be able to replace them

Sorry for your loss, so B-spec at Spa by 31st January
stopping every 5 races to spend the money?

Add me. I got some cars online for friends. You can rip through the seasonals. Hope it helps.

I'd be really interested to know how such a thing can happen??? It's not like the save file got lost because the trophies and photos remains:confused:

Weirdest thing i've ever heard as i've been playing GT from the very beginning.
It's not like you can reset GT and start from scratch.
Only possible explanation I can think of would be that he maybe "somehow" deleted the saved game data without knowing?:confused::confused:
And even then, you would know as you'd have to go through all the GT5 settings before accessing GT Life menu...

Photos are saved in the game's installation (gamedata) and Trophies are saved on a server and also installed in the gamedata.

Ah, that explains it. Thanks.

How much space do we need to save it as back up?? Gigs on USB???:scared:

Just look in the XMB.
The size varies, but it's just ~4mb at max if I remember correctly.

Or you could go to the options menu in Gran Turismo 5, and find the option to salvage lost data.

I've gone through the pain of a lost game save, but I did have a backup from a month earlier so I "only" lost 100 cars and 2 levels.

But it still stung bad enough for me to backup regular.

I did this with one of my secondary accounts. I only have one USB memory stick at the moment and I use it to backup data for different accounts, when I need to spam a ticket or send a car that I also want to keep, etc.

I had forgotten to check which save game was currently on the stick and I accidentally copied a save file from a different account over the save game in the secondary account. As we know, the save game is tied to the account name, so when it saw that my save didn't match the account, it started the game over from the beginning. And since I copied over the save that was on the HDD of that account, it's gone forever.

Fortunately, I did not do that to my main account, so I only lost some backup ticket duplicates and a few cars that I was going to send to my main account. I am using the USB stick for my main account ONLY at the moment, as I need to get to the store and pick up a couple more.

Yeah bro i ve been through this too. I had 2 accounts. I used to send level tickets, museum cards, paints etc. From my secondary account to main one. In main accout i was a-b spec's level 40 in both and did all the seasonals, almost finished licenses but when i was using secondary account to send level tickets i accidentaly deleted the saved data on main cause everytime when u need to send level tickets u need to restore them. But thank god when i sold the old ps3 to upgrade it and i bought playstation plus subcription with online data management and saved my all game progresses there. All my work of lifetime :)) was there. So i had to copy from online. I had to start both specs from level 36 and licences from the beginning. I dont care about game progress but the only thing i am mad about was cars that i bought and tuned from head to toe. Almost 1000 cars :(((( gone. My garage is almost empty right now. Only 300 cars. I Even asked someone to send my their saved data and i would pay for them good money but nobody wanted. Funny thing is i dont have to tear down all seasonals cause there is onlu a few right now. So if anyone has more than 1000 cars i would pay good money for it. You can progress through game easily but waiting weeks and searching used car and online dearlships for obe car thats worse than that.

@ Nurbek - I figured someone else might have made the same mistake, however, since a game save is tied to the actual PSN account name, for someone to send you a game save with 1,000+ cars, they would also have to send you their PSN Account information, which is against Sony's Terms of Service and this site's AUP. Just FYI, of course. ;)

Eventually, I think I will upgrade to a PS + account for the online storage as well as game/add-on discounts, but for the time being, I'll have to be careful until I get more USB sticks. 👍
