A little over a month ago I bought a Nissan Hardbody, great hauler. Got pulled over by the Norwegian equivalent of the DMV, they have random inspections on the road. Failed the inspection, haven't managed to get the parts yet so it's legally down. Does work wonderfully though, hauling parts and garbage, but I don't want to be caught riding dirty.

I also own a '77 Toyota Cressida, great driver/cruiser.. It has sat for a while, but I got it up and running with a new starter, etc. Drove to work on Monday and loved it. Steam cleaned the engine bay on Monday evening, was going to work yesterday morning and it broke down, wouldn't start and showed up at work in a taxi. Gave it a try after work, it fires half a round and stalls.. Needed a car for the next days so I decided to collect my Mk3 Golf out of the toy barn to daily.

Big Norwegian Volkswagen event is coming up this weekend and I figured I could daily it and prepare it for the show the coming days.. Drove down the highway right now and the exhaust suddenly tore off, having been dragged a lot over the past years (car is lowered by a little bit...), so you could say it's a little too noisy to daily.

So, I have a 1982 Corolla in bits. I have a 1982 Corolla that's not road legal and is pretty beat, it's not really part of the army just the stable in our toy barn. I also own a 1980 Corolla, but that's situated in California, awaiting title before it ships over here. I have a Hardbody that I don't want to be pulled over in. I got a Cressida that doesn't start, and I got the Mk3 with an exhaust leak that sounds like the car's come straight from hell.

So.. The last soldier, the last man standing, the only car I can now drive (bear in mind I like having the option to choose from a rather sweek pack of cars, and I like my cars modified a little) without legal or mechanical problems, is a bone stock, 1996 Toyota Corolla E10... Laugh away :)

I kinda had a problem like that, but luckily for me I have 3 cars and my bike as well as 3 other cars to choose from. Best of luck to ya.

That is quite some bad luck you have there, hope they get up and running as fast as possible.

Too many cars. If you've already gotten all you can get out of the wrecked Corolla (which one... the one you started your epic trek in, or the one that actually finished? ), sell it for what you need to get your Golf and Cressida running again.

Why you need a pick-up? A half-hour with a sawzall and one of the Corollas and you'll have your parts hauler... :D

at least your not one one vehicle period. there's no backups around here...I've lost at least 6 weeks of work myself, just this year, because something broke, and everybody else is busy as crap (and labor costs are most of the price of professional repairs)

The other day I sent my car off with my friend for him to replace the brake booster and do some other fixes. He left me is 1981 E21, slammered and rusted and carb'd, so I could drive if I needed to.

I got hungry, so I jumped in, got that straight-piped bad boy started, and began my 2 mile journey. A quarter mile into it, the damn thing started sputtering and died. I thought maybe the carb had frozen the 85 degree, mega humid weather, but an hour later it still wouldn't start. Turns out the in-tank fuel pump died. I couldn't even go to freakin McDonald's!

Reminds me of the time when in the space of a few hours I went from 2 perfectly fine cars to none. Lost 3 tyres and bent a steelie on the Skyline after one ripped itself up and sent me into a high kerb at 40kph, and then when out bush the Sierra's tranfer case packed up and had to be towed 100km back home, only to find later that it could have simply been unjammed with a screwdriver and been on my way again.
