Also to see my whole computer specs https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=115122

Any ideas? :(

The memory reported is per GPU core. You have a 2-core GPU (4850 x2) with a total of 1 Gigabyte of onboard RAM. This gives 512 MB per core, which is what you are seeing.

If you look at the second part of your report (under disabled adapter) - that is your second core, which you have apparently turned off.

I also have a 4850 x2, although mine is the 2 gig version. Both of these cards are excellent value, but the fan is a little loud in my opinion.

Below is the hardware info from my card with the memory amounts highlighted.

What do you mean "Disabled Adapter" should I enable it and what does that do if I enable it?

In your first post, the hardware specs have a "Primary Adapter" - this is the default video processor. Usually, this refers to a complete video card, but in your case, it is only one of the GPUs on the card.

About halfway down the specs, there is a "Disabled Adapter" line - this refers to the second GPU on your card. It is disabled, therefore not doing anything; it is not even powered on.

In the first response to your post, note that my second GPU is a "Linked Adapter", meaning it is sharing the video processing.

Enabling the second core will help speed up any games or high-resolution video editing you are doing, but it will probably not have a noticeable effect on anything else unless you are running Vista in all its memory-hog Aero glory.

I assume you have the ATI Catalyst drivers installed, so all you need to do is open the Catalyst control center in advanced mode and enable "CrossfireX". This will turn your second core on and link it to the primary adapter.

Ok I turned on crossfire and even rebooted my computer it is still saying disabled adapter...:(

Wow do I feel dumb...when I put the 2nd monitor on it said it was enabled. The nifty thing is that when I just use my single monitor and turn crossfire on it not only almost doubles my benchmark (furmark) it also states it IS using 2 GPUs instead of 1 GPU without crossfire on. It looks like with crossfire on it uses BOTH GPUs at 512mb to make that better score.

Thanks for the info :)
