hey all, bored, here's my car, Japanese spec FC3S, is there any other, twin turbo, etc etc lots of crap i can't be bothered mentioning, enjoy. BTW the bonnet is fibreglass, gay aussie rules means it can't be so i'm replacing it with a black standard turbo II bonnet, and replacing the front bar when i get it in the country :D probably gonna keep the wheels though :)

Anyways, that's it, top car, lots of goodies, bride seats, mmmm.

Nice, what year is it? I suppose your getting though without compliance through the 15year rule. Its got the same Momo wheel as my Skyline.

How are you vehicle inspections in NSW, if there anything like in SA youll get reamed for having all that stuff in it (half cage etc)

Front was damaged in a racing accident, possibly a drift comp, not sure.

Yes, it's a 1989 comming in under the 15 year rule, not too sure about compliance, but a workshop quoted me a nice price where they issue two engineers reports, one for the car and one for the mods, so that should work out well, i mean, what's the point of importing modded cars under the 15 year rule if you have to take everything off? :D

So I see Australia has the same 15 year rule as Canada (which means GTRs can be legally imported in August!).

Nice car too, bummer about the front end though. Nice momo steering wheel!

Ev0 we can still import cars newer that 15years eg (1999 R34 Skyline GTR) it just take more crap and expenses.

Engineers report hardly mean crap in SA, our inspectors are real hard arses and make there own rules.

Man that sucks about your engineers, perhaps you could just buddy up to one, or maybe, accidently overpay him ;)

I don't know the specs on the turbos, as it was an auction situation, so i had no details on the car other than the ones given on the auction report in japanese, and from what i could read, they didn't give details about the turbos.

here's a closer pic of one though.

My guess is the turbos rated around 350ps, the car might be making 240rwkw.
It's got a Greddy rebic injector controller and boost controller, i'm guessing aftermarket ECU or piggyback, not sure till i take a look in person.

No offense but, fixed-headlamp conversion 👎
I like flip up...

Also, looks like your front clip had an incident exiting a steeply-banked driveway.

Otherwise, awesome Wankel :)

I agree, I like the flip up lights more, but either way, its a really nice car.
👍

Whats the 15 year rule..... :dunce: ?

Nice car there.

I like the front bumper. Looks RE-Amemiya bumper.

But a 1988-1989 Mazda RX-7 FC3S is the car i'm looking for.

I like the fixed lights, because its something you dont see very often.

What's RE-Amemiya?

And the pop up lights are going back on when i get my hands on it.
Also the front was from a racing accident, i know that for certain, from hitting the dirt off the track. Not a steep driveway. (i wish it was a steep driveway)

RyosukeFCDS
damn, i just found out about RE-Amemiy, now i'm gonna have to get one of their front bars.

👍 You just found about RE-Amemiya? And you own a RX-7? Thats abit weird.

Excuse my used-to-ness of the Standard Measuring System, but could you translate that to hp?

Standard in Japan is PS, standard in Aus is kw.

But Viper did it for me

1kw=1.341022hp
1ps= eh close enough to 1 hp

Here's a few pics of my youngest brothers' (he's 18) 1986 RX-7, which apparently has got a different turbo from the stock one.

Still in the process (very slow) of fixing it up/restoring it - done the wheels, a few other things and painted all the parts with primer on them (which had primer on it for years).

If they don't show then please let me know - i'll have to get someone else to host them.

I had a look, pics worked, nice car, but what do you mean restoring it? it's looks in pristine condition, apart from that GIANT spoiler, lol, just joking.

I highly doubt there's a bigger turbo on there, or if there is, i recommend you remove it, for a number of reasons, you're running the stock intercooler, you're running the stock airbox, no doubt stock ecu, hopefully you're running stock boost, but the thing is the wastegate on series 4s is tiny tiny tiny, so i would recommend not boosting it till you at least get a new cooler, front mount preferably, and definetly a new filter, get it tuned etc.

Lovely car otherwise.

Well when he got it in March it was a right royal mess.

- All the tyres were worn (burnouts) and one had been replaced with a space saver
- The paint all over the car was 'patched' with grey primer and looked a mess
- There was something wrong with the thermostat or something
- The interior was a complete mess with bits missing/broken - sort of like that already but i think he's done at least one thing to fix it

The reason why there aren't any inside shots of the car is because it is such a mess.
Also since the first two pics were taken he's shined up the wheels with some stuff.
Paint was only applied to the grey patches - so it will need a proper full car paint one day. The front bumper (?) is also more orangey than the rest of the car.

As far as performance goes, it did 165km/h+ up a hill here on the way to a Skylines Downunder meet one day, in about 15 seconds or so - probably less as i wasn't actually counting.
But although it does have the speed, it picks it up more gradually/'smootherly' than Dad's Skyline (seen in the second pic). Whereas the Skyline squashes you back in the seat every 'gear' (both cars are automatic).

Ah, well he's done a good job so far, it looks almost factory from the outside, though remember rx-7s aren't about speed, they're about handling, not sure but it doesn't look like a Japanese spec? if it is they have a limiter at 180km/h anyways. But yeah, great thing about rotors, soooo smooth.

Smooth until one of your apex seals break and get sucked into one or both of your turbos, completely destroying the turbine/compressor wheel(s) and maybe the entire turbo, not to mention your motor.

Until then, smooth indeed. :)

I am not a huge fan of the Rotory motor, But I do have great respect for them.

Biggest pain in the ass ever made. Not fun to work on at all. They sound alot like lawn mowers too.
It's wierd it says 13B, I thought RENESIS was the 13b (rx8 motor)...

And unless I'm mistaken, RENESIS is completely different from past rotor's, the intake and exhaust ports being on the side of the rotor rather than at the tip...

All 1.3 liter Rotary engines are '13b'. The 93-95 RX-7's have a 13b-REW, 87-91 turbo models are 13B-T, etc.

As for them not being fun to work on, I disagree. After the factory intake box and all the useless hoses that come with it are removed, it is an amusingly open and simple engine bay to work in.
