I just kinda wanted your guys oppinion on this...

I have been drifting in GT3 for a while, and cannot wait for GT4 so that we can have online drifting games... make sweet video's :-D

I don't really work on alot of my settings too often, I'm not really that smart when it comes to doing that. I do some things that I know help, some things that Codaman had suggested after I watched Gran Dorifto II about... a kagilion times, and worked with that. But one thing that I THINK i do differently then everyone else is I always put sim tires in the rear of my FR car, and normal tires on the front.
Sometimes I keep normal in the rear and sports on the front. It had occured in my mind that you would want more traction up front then the rear, simply because to the best of my knowlege, the front is guiding the drift. I've look at alot of different places... and I haven't read ANYWHERE about people doing that... and if you want to see if it works, i did make a video... I can't distro it, but if you want to IM me, I'll be more then happy to send it to you.

AIM: Hexman712

I haven't done it in a while, however I would like to get back into it, and if someone could answer my question on weither or not automatic is just fine for drifting, I'd be REALLY happy to have that question answered.

My grammer is terrible, so bear with me :-D

Oh... I forgot to add...

I REALLY want to make another drifting video... but I don't have another song to use... could I get some suggestions from people on this forum... The one I already made I used Cryptanite, when I listened to it, I donno, i just THOUGHT drifting...

So far, I was thinking Blast My Desire (new Initial D 4th stage outro)... but... forsome reason using ID music seems... taboo...

File your suggestions :-D

First off, good to see you getting into drifting.

Second, I doubt your grammar is much worse then mine.

Third, Please! Please! don't mix tires on your car! 👎 Look here

If you don't want to use sims, that's cool. But use the same tires . Trust me, the car is much more balanced and predictable with that setup then with mixing tires.

Well, to be honost, my style changed last night.

I put sim tires on all 4, and tried that for a little while... I didn't like it till I turned on a little TC...

I couldn't believe it, it was much more stable and it still felt the same as I'm used to. I went an entire track with out spinning out once in my beloved Camero...

I agree. I leave my TCS set to 1. A lot of people say zero. But at zero if you even graze a gater you're going to spin. It just keeps the car more predictable while still letting the rear swing out.

Good call! 👍

yeah for anything that has way to much power for a fr car like the camro needs at less 1 tc on .. i also use this on the supra 1051 hp... i think it might even need 2 lol well good luck with drifting and welcome to gtplanet

lolz....4 a while i tried rdfting with my skyline...wayz ago...but i could never get the settings straight 4 my Nissan Skyline R34 GTR Vspec @....not 2 mention it had WAY 2 much power...lolz.."like 1227" or somwhere around there i actually used it 4 rally racin until i changed it all and so ya

Bad call....

The TCS is just as much of a crutch as mixing tires.....

Learning proper throttle control is important, so you don't have to rely on computer aids to fix your mistakes....

;)

i don't get it :P oh well. is mixing tires really that bad? because it use super soft on front and medium slick on rear.. works fine to me.... or.... maybe i'm just a newb who can't use sims :(
maybe a newb who can't drift at all! wahhhh :(

well start using sims... you might not drift like you want but it will benefit you in the long run ;) just think of it like a practice session before gt4 drifting... because it will be nothing like drifting with slicks in gt3

TIRE MIXING!!!!EVIL!!!!!!!!!

Having different traction coeficients, from front to back, makes the car more unbalanced... It may seem easier, as most cheap shortcuts do, but it will ultimitely hinder your progress.....

Hey No Fair! No Fair! :dopey: That was before I even understood weight shifting and all. OH well, at least I know now.

But anyway. yes, having the TCS on will make you "think" you need more HP when you really need better technique/control.

Well I never even thought of setting the tcs to 1 untill I read this thread then I read this

Smart man. That little setting probably held me back a good two weeks of progress.

Sorry, Swift... I know that you don't do that anymore, but I just thought I would use your post as an example.....

;)

tsk tsk tsk a bunch of wanna b drifters

Yes, THEE$treetKING. You are a God. A God drifting among men. It saddens me to see such talent being wasted competing against such feeble men as us. But that's the way it is, and until someone steps it up to $treetKING level, you're just going to keep blowing us away with the videos we have never seen.

I want to be you. Really, I do.

And... NO POWER OVERSTEER!!! 👎 :grumpy:

Power oversteer is my drifting style.

TCS and mixing is a no no with me. I just blipp the throttle and i dont have any problems with traction. I like to start the drift feint then power it over from there, i want all four tires to slide at first rather, then i get the rear where i want it. So if i mixed i wouldnt be able to do this very well. And thats my style so its a no no with me to mix.
