I've been considering buying a wheel so I borrowed my cousins Logitech Force Feedback. So far it has been a mixed bag.
Positives include the game does feel more realistic thanks to the input from the wheel. I've done a few years of autocross and currently run rallycross as well as just general high speed driving. The wheel has been rather accurate in simulating real driving dynamics (so far) with the Miata in particular. A few years ago I spun out someone's race prepped Miata in the exact same way that the game boofed me. I'm impressed that the wheel reacts as fast as it does, even though the steering feels heavy.
Negatives though, are that the wheel feels very heavy at times and fights the player rather hard. This makes one feel it may break under the stress. The game is also much harder, as the control feels a bit less precise. Though I've only spent a few hours with the wheel, so, maybe some more time will provide a better feel.
I've also encountered the widely mentioned "stuck" shifter, when turning and using either the brake or throttle pedal. From what I've experianced, the brake and pedal are not part of the problem, instead it is caused by the wheel being turned to full lock. Either way, this has caused problems getting around the track.
The wheel adds a new dimension of enjoyment for the game, but I would not purchase this model because of the gear shift problem. I'd try to test out a Force Pro if I had the chance, to make sure this problem has been corrected.
Thats my take on the product, not sure if that'll be helpful for anyone else.
