I've just completed the FF with the Civic stock except for the RM (hah).

2 of the races I won by less than 1s. So much fun, very close on some races. These have been the best single player experiences of GT5 for me thus far.

I did try it in the stock Golf RM but got slaughtered (8th).

Now I'm doing FR with stock Silvia RM.

It's close!! On Suzuka, I was 1st on lap 2. I was thinking "Hey this is fun, now I'll just do a hot lap and win".

The field seemed to up their game, I got 2 tyres off at the hairpin, and went back to 3rd. Very close. I feel giddy like a school girl.

Also, I tried the stock WRX RM, and it is fantastic competition for all the 4wd events.

These cars are a bit down on HP compared with the field, but they seem like the perfect match for someone of my crappy skill level :)

These events are repeatable too, so that should be good. I might try to find the crappest car to win the event with.

What are your experiences with the new events?

I used the Civic RM as well. Mine has racing softs installed, which I forgot to switch back to something more competitive. I was in first on Turn One of the second lap at Tsukuba. :(

I miss getting that big hit of cash and XP on a weekly basis, but I still dig the new events, because now they feel like PD actually just added more events. In other words, they seem to "fit" the whole theme of the game a bit more this way. Be nice if they had a higher payout and were still repeatable, but let's not be silly... :)

One thing I really did like about the old way of doing the SE, though, was that you had to go out and buy specific cars to do them, which forced me to get into cars that I likely never would have otherwise. Now it's so open that (except for the Ferrari F1 events) you can likely find a car already in your garage for any of the events.

Won all the FF events with stock cars totally unmodified around the 200bhp mark

Like you say won by about a second, fun using cars that have been gathering dust in the garage, and quite a nice challenge 👍

edit: I just completed the FF Challenge, FR Challenge and 4WD Challenge and for some reason when I initially saw the events posted this morning, I thought they had HP restrictions and was very enthusiastic about it. They don't :(. Also, I must say the lack of credits and XP compared to other seasonal events leaves a lot to be desired. The races are great fun and I would still like to see them added permanently to GT5 A-Spec, but increase the prize money please! That last statement about the prize money goes for the rest of the game as well.

They are a joke, and should've been included in the normal A-spec instead.

The AI is worse than in GT2, as I could win the FR events with a fully tuned (133 BHP w/ racing softs) Cappucino RM. The margin at Cape Ring North was 25 seconds...

Let me double quote :

`nuff said.

The AI is particularly bad on Cape Ring. They are alright at most of the track, but as soon as you get to the ring, they forget how to drive.

I still dont see why people are raging over the AI.

You guys are running a car that is very light, so it would not need as much HP to push it. Also, Racing softs...nuff said.

Secondly, you are racing cars that are Double your weight running on most likely Comfort Softs, which as we all know have complete crap traction.

I dont see why you guys are suprised to dominate with it.

I just won the cape ring 4wd race 3 times. First time i did it with high turbo and ss tires and it was no competition. So i took off the turbo and i was down to 330hp. Again wiped the competition. So i switched to stock tires(comfort soft) and put just an intake filter and exhaust on and wont by .400 and hit a wall in the process. I had over an 150hp disadvantage and had prolly the same tires and still won pretty easily. I dont get it, there to easy. All done on a ds3 too.

I personally liked the previous format of the Seasonals. By far my favorite to date was the DTM Race. Limited cars, fairly comparable performance, and a one minute jump started for the leader at the race start, THAT is fun.

Forget these kids that cry because it's "too hard". You are the reason there are almost no restrictions, and why we have crappy payouts on these races now...

Not. Enough. Money.

I don't care about the money. In fact I spent about 90k building a car for each race. So I actually lost alot of money. But it was fun doing it. If I need money I can just grind. Money is TOO easy to get. Its events that are scarce.

The first seasonals ruled. The ones that posed a challenge. I have fond memories of the RX7 race on Tsukuba.

I like the new seasonals, BUT it would be better, if they were added to A-spec as permanent (because they are repeatable). Finaly some races for F10 and F07, so why they only last for 2 weeks?

SO. DO. IT. OVER.

Honestly people, stop all this pointless whining about these seasonal races already. We're lucky to even get them at all since it's bonus content and is outside of the normal game.

No kidding. That one was a blast - and I *hate* that course! But in those cars, I could finally see the appeal of the course, because it finally took on a "flow" - in an FGT, or even in the RM 'Vette, it just feels like you spend more time on the brakes than on the gas; every time you get a rhythm going, it throws something in your way. :) But for DTM cars, it really works.

Exactly - at some point, you find yourself trying to figure out ways to SPEND money just to clear out space for the money you're about to win for an event... More events are always welcome. Heck, that silly Schwimmwagen event a couple weeks ago was a blast, just because I couldn't quit laughing while doing it!

I don't have "fond memories" of that one; it was a real bear for me. I loved the Mini one at the 'Ring, though, and several of the others.

Agreed - since these seem to be very similar to regular A-spec events, it would be nice to have them just added to the regular lineup (if that's even possible) for the long term. I don't want to run a Ferrari F1 event every day, but I *DO* want to do it every now and then.

And for those who say these events are too easy, I say "Make it a challenge for yourself": see what the second-to-last-place starter is driving, and go buy that, and leave it completely stock (no oil change, no new tires, etc.), and see how you do against the AI. Just an idea...

Can I just point out that we have no information if this is a new structure. This might just be this weeks races.

The Schwimmwagen and Mitsubishi electric car races were fun. They were so unusual.

Tried a stock Civic Type-R 180hp, Comfort Softs, made it to 6th on Tsukuba, not a very clean run. Switched to the only sport tyres I had, softs. Killed everyone. Took out an FTO GPX, 200hp-ish Sport Hard on Eiger, 2nd, so close! I spent the evening driving 200-210hp FFs around Eiger on Sport Hards, that seems to be the perfect challenege for me, watched my laps drop over the evening 1:21...20...19...18 Great Job PD!

Lol look at yourself ! OMG it's too easy to win in a racing modified car with super soft tyre's against stock opposition, oh no what a terrible game.
