I am buying NTG2011 today; and it'll be a long time before I'll play GT5 online. The ONLY reason I bought GT5 was because I had no NASCAR game last year. I have ENJOYED playing GT life and have made level 30 in 2 months of moderate A spec playing; level 28 in B spec.
Then there's playing GT5 online...
It's a shame that men and children have absolutely NO IDEA what clearing one's network cache' means. I have been in races where half the players can't be heard and still others' cars are leaping several feet in the air and swiping left and right across the track in a way that a toddler might do. Forget the fact that the HOST should not keep those players from one race to another; it is the responsibility of the player to make their connection proper for everyone.
I look forward to your opinions on this.
 
This kind of thing happens in EVERY game Online, sure it may be worse in some games, but it still exists in others.

Some poeple dont have the luxury of a good connection to start with and when players are hosting games you cant guarantee a good connection between the host and other players.

I know I had a bad connection when I lived at home and there wasnt a thing I could do about it
 
10-4. I'm not going online to NTG for a few days-worth of play hours; that way (I) should know what I'm doing.know

One thing I hate about these forums people who create topics about quitting GT5 :rolleyes: If your gonna quit so be it but whats the point of making a post about it?

OP hits on several different points. Here's my take on things:

If the system cache must be cleared regularly, then the game ought to do that for us. Players shouldn't have to figure these things out for themselves.

I don't think games are hosted on Sony servers. I think they use P2P where the game is hosted on a player's PS3. So, there are many variables that can affect the connections of other players. Anything from user's QoS, to firewalls, to the routing from player to player. These are things that end users have no control over.

The GT5 matchmaker should do a better job screening users who want to join a certain lobby, and not let them in if the connection isn't up to snuff. Again, why should the host have to police users with intermittent or bad connections? The game should do that for us.

My wife ordered the new NASCAR game for me. I played it for 10 minutes and went back to GT5. This game, with all its flaws is more fun than the other game.
 
Not for nothing, the physics and force feedback in GT5 are awesome but the net code SUCKS big time. Ive played iRacing extensively and you never see the cars doing crazy things like in GT5. Once in awhile during a big crash you'll see some cars going bonkers but never during regular driving. If someone has a really bad connection you may see them flash a bit, as in disappear and reappear, but they are never zipping all over the screen like GT5. They need to put in better predictions about where the cars are supposed to be so you don't see all that craziness.
 
omg ppl dont know how to clear network cache!! oh no the world is coming to an end how very dare all of you not know how to do that, despicable!

go play nascar racing because Im sure you've complained about network cache before. maybe you like going round in circles all the time cya!

and as for your comment on rude forum members I think you really are one, whether you know it or not.....bye!!! "waves"
 
Wow. I never said all kinds of bad things about this game. I never said I would stop playing the game. Where did you all get that from? I hate to think that all of you in here are that pompus and salty at the same time. I said I ENJOYED the game. It's the (guessing) 40% of players who barely know what an internet connection IS let alone how to maintain it. And then there's the chosen masses who figured out that not having a proper BROADBAND connection allows them immunity from responsibility for their actions in online gameplay.
There's no way you guys are THAT full of yourselves to treat people like THEY are putting your game down....are you?

As to the new game she got you; if it's NTG...I've seen things that need fixing/ patching, but I don't expect perfection right off from the start.

If you think anything is going to change because the game is different, you've got a lot to learn.. both about games and the real cold hard world.

Gee. Well, I guess I've been put in my place with that one. I'd better just stop wasting my time communicating with this forum. IT and the "real cold hard world" is just too much for me right now.
