What an amazing weekend to say the least, the atmosphere is definitely something that makes you feel welcome to be in town for F1. Everywhere you go there is something going on. Crescent Street is the center of it all, and it's amazing. Peel Street was awesome too, there must have been 30-40 Ferrari road cars lined up door to door, what a sight to see
It was hot, REALLY hot, I'm talking 45 degrees celcius once humidity was factored in on Saturday, and it wasn't much cooler on Friday or Sunday either.
This was my first live F1 event after being an avid fan for years, and I'm now hooked on seeing them in person! If you've never been to an F1 event, you have to go. TV simply does not do these cars justice. The sound, the colour, all amazing. I sat in Grand Stand 1, right across from the pits, and when they flew by making a gear change, it was like a kick in the chest, truly stunning. When the cars were praticing their starts at the end of pitlane on Friday and Saturday, it was like thunder, you could feel it in your seat.
Anyways, enough jibber jabber, here are some of the pics I took :) (more to follow later)

MAN, that is AWESOME!!!!! you lucky bastard, that kicks ass. did you get to chat with any of the drivers? hopefully, I'll be able to race there in coming years. I'm getting into karting and I'm going to climb the ranks to F1, Since I missed out on the Red Bull drivers search, I'm just going to pack up and move to England if I get good enough and race karts there and move up to FF1600 or FF2000 or w/e other drive I can get. I hope to be the next american(besides Speed) in F1. I know it's farfetched, but if I can just get a chance, I can make it happen.

rock.

Lucky bastard. I havn't been to the F1 since the last year it came to Adelaide, I was only 6 then so I can barly remember it. :(

That's awesome man. I know what you mean about the sound of the cars. It's amazing. I was at the 2003 GP of Spain, wich was my first time and i was affraid of going deaf. You could hear the cars from a couple of miles away. Everytime they shifted it was exactly like you said, you get this huge pressure on your chest. It's awesome. :)

I went to the Canadian GP for my honeymoon in 2000. We walked across the Casino bridge during one of the practice sessions. The sound was amazing.

Nice 👍

I'm going to go to the Aussie GP next year, which will be the first time I have ever been to an F1 race 👍

Really looking forward to it :D

damn man, next year? whoo!!! and you though the engines this year are loud, next year, the engines are supposed to get up past 20,000 rpm's!!!! I heard a rumor that the 2006 Cosworth V8 is supposed to hit 22,000 rpm's!!!!:scared:. I'm going to try to make it to the U.S. Grand Prix in 2006 as well. man, those sounds at indy at 10,000 more rpm's then you are used to hearing with the indy cars, wow!!!. but it's just speculation until it happens.

Awesome! I was seriously considering going to the US grand prix this year, via that GPTours thing. My mom was down for it and stuff, but everything reasonable was sold out. :(

there's always next season though. maybe in time for the new beemer F1's too.

you should hide in a box mail it in saying its a new engine for Jordan team :dopey:

I've been to three GP's at Melbourne 2001-2003, and you're right TV just isn't the same, I found that because I was on a corner you could really tell the difference between the driving styles of the drivers and the subtle differences in the engine sound. In the end i could almost shut my eyes and say, "yeh that was R schumacher going past" it really is quite an amazing experience. I have been very lucky that me and my dad have been able to afford it because it isn't excatly cheap, but well worth the money spent. 👍

McLaren_Man, where did you sit? I'm buying tickets for Jones. Should be good 👍

Blake

Jones, that will be a top spot because that is right on the first chicane, let me guess about $500 for the weekend? The first two years I went in the Prost stand, then in the third year i was in the Senna stand, both on the final corner, I loved it because you could hear the cars going down the main straight going up through the gears. (and yes you do get that thud in your chest every time they change gears!)

Trust me Blake, you won't be disappointed 👍

how big are the engines? because, I'd need a very large box. hahaha. sometimes I wish i was a super hot babe so i could seduce my way into the pits and everything. and afterwards, i could look at myself in the mirror. :dunce:

...okay, maybe not. :yuck:

Yeah, the tickets there are pretty expensive, but why go cheap on the reason you go there? So getting the expensive grand stand tickets in a package with cheap plane tickets, and then staying in some cheapo motel

I'll make sure to take heaps of photo's.

The pits are close to impossible to get in unless you are someone very special or you have very high up connections. But the last bit's a great idea! :sly:

Yeh we got cheap flights and had to leave adelaide at like 6 in the morning (yes that means getting up at like 4 o'clock) You live in Gosford don't you? that is just out of Sydney so you might have an early start. As for motels, one of the ones we stayed at had a lovely view of a mouldy brick wall! We were only there for the racing.

You are very lucky!

I went to the Canadian GP 2 years ago, I was in Suits (sp?) at the Senna curve.

Total madness! Food for free too:p

Sounds awesome! How much did that set you back? (for a seat in the Senna suite).
