I'll bite.

I usually get up early to be at the shop when the first personnel arrive, and sometimes you're rewarded with a nice wake-up call:

...of course, sometimes I'm up earlier than that.

The Earth also has it's own air conditioning:

...and will cool you down after condensation:

Sometimes the mundane impresses me, when all the dazzling frippery of this world fails to catch my attention. So they send an alien craft to abduct me:

Finally, my son (born this year) and daughter, just being themselves:

I'm not a PhotoShop wizard at all (I still have PS6 lying around), so I mostly just use the editing tools that come with FreeStone. I removed some image noise in the aerial night photo, by playing with the levels...kind of surprised there wasn't more of it at ISO 1600, to be honest.

^ Love the tones in your first shot. Long exposure for that one? Also the shot of the rain is great! 👍

The first one was at 1/13 of a second at ISO 400, just held steady my leaning against a sign post.

The rain one was just one of those lucky moments of nature's awesomeness.

Edit: Split off thread.

Those are all very interesting shots, each one of them. Nice work.

 I was just thinking.... What happend to the pics and my posts?! Then I saw a new thread by you for your shots.. :p

That first pic turned out great imo. Looking at the other photos you do have a good feel for composing tones in your shots. This is something I still lack and need to work one... 👍

That second to last shot with the pipes was a long exposure if im not mistaken, by looking at the background? Was there anything special used there, because looking at it again its also done quite well!

Great shots from start to finish, Pupik. 👍

Thirteen second exposure at ISO 100.

It's a 13s exposure.

Besides the obvious interesting weird structure, the nice detail about it, for me, is the blue light casting on it, from behind the camera.

Yup, detail is definitely there but did you cast the blue light yourself or was it already there from another light source?... And next time I'll look at the EXIF data... Totally forgot about that.

The 13-second exposure is of a water meter, located outside a hotel. They had some spotlighting in the back of the shot. The foreground is Interstate 35, and there's even a few stars in the sky. I was taking long-exposure images of the interstate, but got bored after about 20 minutes, and was curious about that weird water meter next to me. Turns out I liked that shot better!

This one turned out decent, but I probably over-worked it:

Quite like many of these... must resist the urge to run a couple through PS to make them even more "poppy" - namely the rain and clouds one.

The colors in that first one are fantastic though... I'm never up early enough for the likes of that... much more of a late night shooter and as a result, always a tripod in my car.

And this is making me want to put together my own favorite shots of the year... Perhaps after the break.

Ha. Crossed my mind, too.

Perhaps starting a general thread for everyone to post their 5 favourite photos of 2011.

Since it was spur-of-the-moment, I left the pic as-is (except for changing the width to 800 pixels).

I carry one if I'm on a local job, or need to pack an entire suitcase versus carry-on luggage (depends on my "priority" status within the particular airline). But other times, I just look for a flat location to mount my camera.

I'd been told for years about the value of early morning and late-afternoon sunset, and could never really understand much of why that was the case until recently. Generally, I'm on the road at sunrise, and out the door before it's dark (although not always), and that really makes an enormous difference in the intensity of colors...something I took for granted for many years.

the cloud picture is awesome!

But the one that really popped to me is the pipes one, I really like the colors. Maybe if the camera was placed directly in the ground it would have had a better composition, so that the horizon line wouldn't break in half the picture as abruptly... I dunno, but I still like it.
