As of now its stock and I intend to keep it that way for now (a 17 yr olds budget wont go to far)

Nice first car..... Beats my 1978 mustang II i got when i was 15..lol what a pile that was... of course that was about 12 years ago...ahh the good ol' days :)
Good luck with it 👍 :)

Nice. It looks pretty sweet as it is, but I do recommend finding a friend who can install set of H&R springs for you. Handling's going to be even nicer and will look sporty too. Good choice on the manual transmission!

I've always liked the looks of the 2-gen MX-6. Nice car! Sproty enough to be fun but not so sporty to get you in a lot of trouble.

Coolies. I like the MX-6. Suprisingly it dosen't have much rust for a Winnipeg car...

Were do you live in Winnipeg anyway? I went there this summer. I was staying at my cousins up in the northwest side, on Garden Grove.

Excellent choice for a first car! Good to see that it's a manual transmission too! 👍

Is the MX-6 front wheel drive? And what are your insurance rates like? I know it would be next to impossible for me to afford that car here in Toronto (I am also 17 years old; highest auto insurance bracket).

Congrats on your first ride. 👍 How long have you been saving for it?

I've been saving for about a year and a half. The car is paid for, I just had to borrow some money for insurance and that should be paid fot soon.

Yes it's FWD also for insurance I registered it under my moms name, because she has full merits therefore cheaper rates, it saved me $360 to register under her name rather than mine.

My first car was a Sky Blue 1988 Cadillac Fleetwood. I don't know how it compares in US dollars, but one day I went to the gas station when I was extremely close to being completely out of gas. I filled the tank, and it came out to over 90 Litres, and cost just over $70.00 CDN. That was back in 1999. I sold it very soon after.

Well, my buddy tweaked his out pretty well. He dropped in new pistons, new crank, valves, rockers, the works. All in all, the turbo he strapped to it, was the best part. :D

He runs consistant 10's on pump gas. It puts about 600hp to the front wheels, and he lightened almost everything (fiberglass doors, carbon hood and trunk, as well as bumpers and side flares.)

Normally I hate FWD cars, but the extra traction that FWD provides makes a lot of sense in Winnipeg, given the obscene amount of snow you guys always get.

And according to Edmunds, the MX-6 puts out 164hp, with 160ft-lbs of torque.

Ya those numbers are correct for the 2nd gen V6, theres a big jump from the 4 cylinder to the v6. from 118-164. Although the '96 modle had a few minor differences which brought the numbers down to 114 and 160.

Thats a rather weak v6, but its plenty to have fun with fwd.

It's still got quite a bit of pep :)

160hp is very common for V6 engines. Of the 5 cars I have driven, 4 of them have V6 engines, and they all put out around 160hp.

Ah, excuse me for what I said earlyer then :dunce:

I just said that cause my car is a i4 and puts out 160hp, and my friends v6 puts out 200, and well... most v6's i've ben around put out about 200 :scared:

Nice car. I wanted to get an MX-6 for a bit, that or a 7th Gen Celica. Then I got fixated on RWD.. and then MR layouts...

Still, nice car, good going on getting it in that conidtion, with a manual, and the V6.

The thing about V6's is they have a bit more torque than 4 Cyls with similar HP. The 20 Valve that was working in my car was 160 HP stock.. but way less torque (I can't remember the stock number :dunce: ) And Torque is nice

Better than my first car... a 94 Toyota Tercel 2 door with a 4 speed manual... fun car though... learned a hell of alot in it. Thanks to not caring about it too much... can you say paint chips? 80 MPH on gravel/dirt roads... going sideways on snow... everythign crazy... with 82 HP and 90 Ft/l;bs of torque :D

My first car was a 1964 Lincoln Continental. It has a 430 cid engine and suicide doors in the rear. It was huge and I loved it. Then I blew up the engine. Stupid kids shouldn't own nice cars.

they can get you in plenty of trouble on the highway. there good for 140mph, and they have a verrry soild feel so at 120+ they feel just as good as they do at 65mph.
i think they're great cars. i have a 94 LS, 5 speed. its got 130k on it now. runs great. those cars really pull when they hit 4500 rpm. feels like a power band on a 2 stoke drit bike. also when your at an idle the motor will probally tick, don't worry its an easy fix. when you change the oil on it put on a Bosch oil filter for a ZR-1 vett. think the part # is 3401. it should take care of that. but anyways take care of that car and make it last. 👍

Bullcrap 140 mph? takkes quite a bit to reach that o_O

My maximum geared/power speed is 141mph. I drive the model down from the MX-6 - the MX-3 V6. The MX-6 uses the same engine block, bored out to 2.5 litres (1.8 in the MX-3), producing 168hp instead of the 140 I have, but the MX-6 is a heavier car. I've been in the MX-6's sister car - the Ford Probe V6 - at 145mph.

You were saying?
