My first cheap alternative cockpit...

Well I just wanted to say thanks to GTplanet. I've been a fan of GT since GT4 but only recently played GT5P only about a month ago. I'm just glad to say I was hooked and hooked fast. Soon after I bought a G25 and built this thing, thanks for all the info here I was able to just buy PVC and build it with using all the ideas from what I've seen here.

The seat is from a 300zx and is fully adjustable, you will see a fully grown 5"10 man and a 5"4 kid use the cockpit pretty comfortably!

It's still unpainted, and I need to organize the wires but I can't stop playing!

Yeah, very cool. Did your dad help you build it or did you do it all on your own? Cuz you look very young in those photos. You don't even look old enough to own power tools.:sly: :dopey: 👍👍👍👍

hey guys, thanks for the positive responses. I still have a few pans to make this cockpit better such as interior panels and a functional ebrake.

Now all you need is another so you and Dad can race together.

Can it take a lot of knocking about and thrashing of the steering wheel and 6ft plus 100 kilo people :)

I have one quick question.
That thinner second PVC pipe that runs from under the shifter to the main frame of the rig at the floor. It looks like it is running at a slight angle maybe even less than 45deg. but the PVC connector at the top and bottom look like straight 90deg. connectors. Does that smaller PVC pipe have some flex so you could just run it at that angle and it had the flex needed to hook between those two 90deg. connections ?
The answer is probable right in front of my face but from the pic's and video I am just not 100% shure how you made that connection.
Again very nice build.

]:idea:I'm hoping it does, because I'm thinking of making a stand-alone car seat unit to go along with the Fanatec Wheel Stand so that I can play GT without having to sit on a dining room chair.;)

Let me know how the back of that holds up where all the weight is bending that pvc. Mine lies flat on the back and has boards over it that the seat is screwed into. I have no doubt the kid will be fine in it, but I do have concerns if I were to sit my big 250lb butt in it (dont invite me over )...anyway...keep us updated on its longevity to see if what I did was overkill.
