Right click, save target as... 9Mb. This is a lap in "The Captain" :)

Don't blame me, I'm still learning to control the car. I hit the wall once because I countersteered too much. :ouch:

The car has 206hp, weight rediction 2, and all trany and suspension mods.

Is there any other drifter who continue using D-pad?

Sheron,

Very smooth and controlled! I like how you feinted the car into the drifts and how you controlled the countersteer. Showing your complete run even thought it isn't a perfect run where not all corners are drifted is cool and I liked seeing that (linking) because I saw the consistency in your drifting as you exited and set yourself up for the next corner. You got some good control of the drifts using the DS2 controller!

I use the D-pad.

It seems like your car lacks enough midrange to spin N2's. Your 206hp is N/A right? You might want to try using the same level of power with a turbo or supercharger. Or, try using less power and switching to N1's.

the control you have with the d-pad never ceases to amaze me sheron, especially the amount you managed on the bumpy surface of el capitan,

I used to use the d-pad in GT3, up until around last October or so - so I know how much more careful you must be with it. I gave it a shot in GT4, and it felt absolutely impossible to use after getting comfortable with the sticks. So I view this vid as somewhat of an accomplishment on your behalf.

Although it isnt nearly as polished as your work in GT3, it shows much potential. You clearly have a solid technique established, just have to work on the consistency (as I'm sure most of us do). Its all about doing 'just enough' countersteering, doing any excess flings you at walls in a very rude way. I dont think theres any need for further comment. It's like I said to BreakerOhio about his vid, I'm sure you know exactly where and how things went wrong. Its just a matter of time before it all comes together.

Keep it up 👍

Thanks for the comments. Golding about 90% B, A and IB (I'm now in IA) licenses have me helped to understand new physics, and know the new feeling of the D-pad.

The car has a superchager, racing muffler and sport CPU.

I finish working this month so, in April I'll have more spare time to practice.

On second viewing, the power seems appropriate. I think the line needs some adjusting so you can get the most out of your drifts. Also, it looks like your having some understeer during turn in (you're not alone). I've found a solution to this which I'll be sharing shortly.

Good 👍

You also can find in my video that pulling the e-brake isn't an option to initale the drift. I tried to in the 1st corner.

Fient, power over, and lift off are the main techniques.

D-pad all the way! good to see your back in the game so to speak.

Good job on the 1st vid, looking forward to many more from you.

I never did get very good at drifting in GT3, but Im very accustomed to the physics in GT4 now. I know the topics already been beat to death, but how do you like the new physics for GT4?

you've definately got some fluid driving going on there, a couple of those drifts are very impressive

i think the car is holding you back, it needs more top end or perhaps just different power distribution (same power but with turbocharger?) so it can hang the rear end out for longer

but pretty good for a first vid, i look forward to seeing more of your videos :)

i'm still using a DS2 (because i don't have $200 to spend on a wheel) but i use the sticks, i have since gt2

Nice video, seem like i have a chance to get as good as you guys (pro gt3 drifters) in GT4. Now that there is new Physics I can get just as good and keep up. I would say right now im as good a Sheron. Unless Sheron wasn't trying in that video... Then.. EP...

You know that the NA setup has MUCH more mid-range torque compared to turbo or supercharging, right? Super chargers produce lots of mid range horsepower but the NA stage three gives your car rediculous low-end and mid-range torque, and produces similar horsepower curves, but with much less in the area of maximum HP. Basically, if I find a car (such as the Levin 86) that has 228 HP with Stage 2 turbo, and 226 HP (I think these are the right numbers...) with Stage 3 NA tuning, I'd MUCH rather get the NA setup, much better throttle response and mid-range power compared to turbo, and that's just regular physics.

I can go more indepth about it if neccessary, but I'm lazy

"NA stage three gives your car rediculous low-end and mid-range torque, and produces similar horsepower curves, but with much less in the area of maximum HP"

You've got it backwards; NA stage three will produce little low/mid range hp/torque but the high-end power will be similar to that of a supercharger/turbo. Almost all N/A tuning forces you to move the powerband higher and higher.

More detail:

Tuned N/A engines are almost always a sacrifice of low-end and mid-range hp and torque for high-end power and torque. For reference, a stock 4AGE makes torque from 4500-6500, a tuned 4AGE makes torque from 6500-8500 and peak power is made slightly above peak torque. Response is good.

Supercharged engines tend to have lots of torque low down but there is generally a limit on high end power. 4AGZE (Supercharged) will make way more torque than a standard 4AGE from 3000-6500 but only make 30-40 more HP on the highend. Response is also good, but not as good as N/A.

Turbo engines are going to vary based on a ton of variables, but, a compact turbo will make torque close to the same RPM where a supercharger will but will have greater high end power. Response is ok, not as good as a supercharger.

Good stuff Sheron. I can tell you're using the Dpad by your exits. But still good stuff.

And yes, it is going to take a while to get used to this. Unlike GT3, GT4 is much more intricate.

hahaha, I wasn't able to see it, but i seen your other drift videos. I wasn't able to understadn why it's THAT impressive on DS2.. I mean I don't find DS2 that hard..

He uses the d-pad, not the analog sticks. What most people find impressive is the precision he's able to attain by using that.

..Yes i know he uses the d-pad, I use the d-pad as well. I'm actually getting quite good now, and once you do it for a while, it gets quite easy. Might i add that He's been drifting for aobut 4 years now? (with the D-Pad)
