Over the last week or so, I have completed my first two endurance races ever, in any racing game (GT or Forza). Last weekend I did the Grand Valley endurance race using a fully tuned BMW M3. This past weekend I did the Indy 500 with the Sauber Mercedes race car. Overall, I enjoyed them. It takes some adjustment mentally because the races are so much longer than what I am used to. They also require a completely new thought process, since you have to pit. Yes, I used cars that made the races easy, but I did not want to take the chance that I would lose an endurance race. Also, driving the fully tuned BMW is quite the treat. I am confident that my experience was enhanced by the Fanatec GT2 wheel and Clubsport pedals, both of which are mounted to my wheelstandpro.

The endurance races are a nice perk for leveling up in the lower events. My only criticism of the endurance races are the rewards. The experience point rewards are ample, but the credits are low when you factor in the amount of time it takes to complete the endurance races. Also, the car reward for the Indy 500 is awesome (a premium Jag classic race car that cost $20 million at the dealership), but the reward for the Grand Valley race was underwhelming (Honda HSC concept car). It would be nice to get a kick ass, expensive car for the completion of any endurance race.

Overall, the endurance races, like Gran Turismo 5 generally, are great. PD really hit the ball out of the park.

Yeah, I found that sudden experience of having to pit quite strange... I have F1 2010 and you get used to the pits, tyre wear pretty quickly and I can easily create strategies on the go.
But in GT5, straight away they put in tyre wear and fuel in the first endurance race... And you have no idea when to pit... Other than that, endurance races are the most enjoyable (if I use an underpowered car) for me.

Yeah... GV300, Indy 500 and Laguna Seca 200 are really fun events. I did GV300 three times, Indy twice and Laguna Seca once, but I'll have to grind them all a few extra times to get to Level 32. I'm really looking forward to the Nurb 4h Endurance!

I'm not going to do the Suzuka 1000km one, because I absolutely hate that track and don't see myself do it 172 laps in a row. And the Tsukuba roadster race seems really boring to me: boring car on a boring track for 4 hours? No thanks.

Suzuka is boring yes, I did it in under 6 hours in a audi LMS but 172 laps is a LONG time lol.

BUT! The roadster race is quite fun in a fully hopped up MX5 lol. I think I finished it somewhere above +20 laps

I plan to do the roadster race this weekend.

Personally I'm content with the prize car situation for endurance events in GT5. When you start thinking about the long races (9hrs, 24h) these are races that I'm not likely to do more than once each. If the rewards for these races were amazing cars then I'd be very tempted to pick an overpowered car to ensure the win. Since rewards cars are lame in GT5 I can rest easy picking a well matched car and making a great race instead of ensuring the easy win. And even if I don't get that XJ13 I can eventually buy it later on, unlike many of vehicles in GT4 which could only be won.

I've done the Nurburgring 4 Hours after the other earlier enduros the last week, and I won't do any other endurance until they implement the possibility to save the game in a race. 9 hours on tsukuba, 1000km suzuka and 24H endurances are just too long, I don't have the time to complete them and don't want to bring my ps3 on for 3-4 days just to complete one race.

My kids and I form a race team when we do the races. Because of that I have to use mildly tunes cars so they can handle them. I usually will get a lap or two ahead of the leader then let them race. Once they start falling behind I will jump in to try and get the lead back. It is a bit risky but they have fun. My daughter just finished the last hour of the 4 hour Miata race and did pretty good and stayed 1 lap ahead of the leader. That was with only the driving line on and 1 ABS. Can not wait until the 9 hour.

The Roadster Endurance is a lotta fun! That MX-5 is great fun when you add all the trimmings to it! Thats why I loved the Tsukuba Seasonal Event so much! :)

Suzuka was a lot of hard work ... Felt good to cross the line to finish lap 172, thankfully it was 100% dry all the way through.

Nurbrugring was a great four hours, pitting every two / three laps in my ZR-1 C6 RM lol! :P

+1 on all that lol. You sound exactly like me 100% haha. 172 laps pffft!!! It takes forever to crack that 100 lap mark.

I know lol! It just seems to go on forever! You get to fifty and then you get to 100 and then you get to 150, and then you have your last pit stop and oh god, every fifteen laps felt like a milestone lol!

I love endurance races too and can't wait until I unlock the Nurburgring 4 hours! But I think there should have been more of them, on a wider variety of tracks. Another 5 or 6 races in the 1-3 hour range will certainly keep me busy for a long time.

I could love that also! I only have 2 enduros left now and they are both 24hr so I will probably visit those 1 time each lol I guess same as 9hr....let me tell you 9hr at that track is so damn boring I want to die lol.

I'll be taking my TOM's Castrol Supra / Nismo 380 to that event so I think I'll be good for nine hours :) (Don't think I'll be doing nine hours though until the save feature is introduced)

Does anyone know how many laps the ai does in the 9 hour? Not up for such a short track for that long was figuring I'd use the X2010 then park it for some of the race.

I agree with you and would add that it would be great if some of the endurance races were available earlier in the game. Maybe with each level (Beginner, Amateur, Professional, Extremet, etc.) There could be one endurance race to complete. My biggest frustration with this game has been waiting to get to a decent level (25, 28, and maybe in 35 sometime in the next 12 months) just to do an endurance race. And for why?

The ai will do around 400. My b-spec does 776 and wins by 360+/- laps. So figure the ai doing around 400 or so.

Only 400 laps!? I figured they'd be able to do about 500 laps (Judging off of 540 minutes total, one minute laps so 540 laps minus however many for pitstops so I estimated at least 500?)

How are they only doing 400 laps lol!

Thats just a guess-timate. Like I said the b-specs (40,39,39) can do 776 and usually win by over 350 laps. I have one running right now that will be done when I get home and I will check for exact numbers.

But if it means anything my b-spec guys will run 32-34's there which should equal out to around 900-950 laps and they fall 200 short so I would expect it to be the same for the ai guys in a-spec.

I did the 9 hour race 3 times, and each time the AI would drive between 520 and 540 laps. Just pick the X1 for a quick blast, saves you a few hours driving.

You guys have inspired me to give the 4hr Tsukuba race a go. I'm now looking for the optimal tune to make that abysmal roadster a bit more fun :) I already figured out that the magic is in the LSD for this one...

I think I'm going to do it this weekend. Too bad the prizecar is a bit pathetic :(

Bram you won't be disappointed. The AI is not competitive but the mx5 fully tricked is sure fun to drive...I think around 380hp of tire smoking joy? It was a fun race to complete.

I completed this race, the Mazda Roadster Tsukuba 4 hour, this morning. I enjoyed it by using a fully tuned late model Roadster that I already had in my garage. The credit reward sucks, but the 212K in experience points helped vault me close to Level 30. After a few trips to Indy, I am now Level 30 and eligible to try to Vittel challenge. Next weekend, I am doing the Laguna Seca 90 laps. I have already completed it in bspec.

This game continues to amaze me with regard to its accessibility (among other things). I never came close to the endurance races in GT4 and GT3.

Wait til you see the challenge coming up...

Congrats to OP. I have only done the GV300 and that wa alright. Much longer than what im used to and what i expect. But then due to work i havent had the chance to go for the roadster enduro. 4 hours? Hopei can do those soon!

I do the endurance races on Sunday morning. I wake up at 4am, take care of the dogs and then I make some coffee. If I am racing by 4:30am, I can get about three hours in before the kids wake up.

The longer endurance races (9 and 24 hours) are going to be a problem for me to complete, unless PD does a patch that implements a save feature.

Did the roadster enduro last weekend. It was stangely enjoyable. I dislike the MX5 and I hate the cramped little Tsukuba track because you don't get a moment to let go and go all out... But somehow this combination worked for me.

My roadster was tuned to 250bhp but nothing really extreme... This track doesn't call for big turbos but more for a good suspension and lsd setup.

I liked it, but I can't see myself do the 9 hour version of this.

The 9hr is significantly more boring!! I have did it once. The 24hr's are the ones that are killing me. I want to do them to complete them, but I don't want to do them to.
