My first VB Screensaver

So, I made a VB screensaver. It's in beta right now. It still has "Jarrett's VB ScreenSaver" at the top, but try to ignore that.

When you download it, right click on the file, click "Install". Then when it brings up "Display Properties" go to settings, then put

in the RSS Feed 2.0 area.

For the Background Image part, save This Image (Click Me) , then use it as the Background Image (you must save it in it's own seperate folder, then find the folder by browsing).

I know, the instructions are sketchy. If you need help, PM me. I need comments and advice on how you think it should be improved.

Basically what it does is it gives you up-to-date information on what the latest topics are in the Rumble Strip. You should only use this if you have a permanent/broadband (not dialup) connection.
 
Sounds like a cool idea - a screensaver that updates. 👍 (Sorry if it's an old idea, guess I'm a bit behind the times...)

I might look into testing it when I get back from Christmas holiday, but I doubt it will take place of the pretty girls I have a the moment. :sly:

So, when you say VB, are you talking VB6 or VB.NET?

Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition.

I've still got to fine tune it to be a publically useable app (remove my name from the top, make the background image already there, etc.).

I've already made a couple of other simple programs. Nothing major yet. We have Visual Basic 6 on some of our more advanced school computers and I like to play around with it. It's fun to be able to play around and code some new browser items when your bored.

But c'mon guys...make me feel good...compliment my screensaver even though it sucks (I'm only 12...don't be too harsh or i'll turn emo).
 
I might have a Beta V2 by Christmas Day...and maybe a final version before the years end.

Known Issues:

- "Jarrett's VB Screensaver" Text At The Top
- Occasionally delayed RSS Feed (may not be fixable).
- "Preview" In display properties tends to not work for the screensaver.

Future Updates:

- Top text erased.
- .ZIP File*
- Multiple RSS Feeds

The .ZIP file will probably include more background images (all either 1280x1024 or 1600x1200). It will also include a Text Document with different RSS Feed links for GTP. I may also include different skins for the screensaver in the .ZIP.
 
Haha, all I've done with VB is made an address book. :lol:

Expensive software that, I have the full blown Visual Studio 2003 here.
