My girlfriend and myself recently took a 2 week vacation to Melbourne, it was amazing. The food was superb, the people are all so warm and friendly and we fell in love with the place. Along the way, we also took a road trip to the Great Ocean Road and Mornington Peninsula. And another daytrip out to Yarra Valley.

So here's some pics of from the Great Ocean Road first. Will share Yarra Valley later. The roads on the Great Ocean Road was lovely, transitioning from Coastal to forest and back again, at times you'll have the woods on one side and the coast on another at the same time. It'll be cool to see what turns up in Horizon 3.

Our vehicle was a Nissan Pathfinder. We initially booked an X-Trail with Hertz, but on the day itself, they were going to give us a Hyundai Tuscon... what a bummer, so we took the bigger Pathfinder instead. It was a good choice.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Here's some pics of Yarra Valley. Not as picturesque as the Great Ocean Road, but still nice with lots of rolling hills in the backgrounds. Roads here are in much better condition but it's a lot more built up with many residences. It was pretty good fun running a Smart Fortwo up and down the mountain roads though.

After driving around, ice cream is good.

i forgot to mention, there were roundabouts everywhere in Yarra Valley!

And to add on to the latest gamescom video, we didn't just see double rainbows, we saw a triple rainbow! i kid you not. There was even a time where 2 rainbows crossed each other , let me pull a pic....

Very nice! Great pictures. It's a fun road to drive no matter the car, I did it twice (2011 and 2012), once in a Nissan Micra and the other in a Mitsubishi Lancer. I'll be going back early next year and I'd like to try and get a hold of a more sporty car if possible. Wish I could drive it in a Skyline... saw a bunch of those out there.

Anyways, some of my pics:

This does showcase a problem that Horizon 3 (and 2 and 1) has. The roads are too bloody wide. It made sense in H1 because it was America. But H2 had B roads that were as wide as American roads and that felt like they were purpose-designed to be driven fast on. H3 looks to have the same problem. The best part about driving on roads is that they don't feel like clinical racing circuits, and the best circuits are ones that ape winding roads. The roads in Horizon games feel like they're designed to be driven on at 250kmh. As if they're supposed to feel at 200kmh what a road at 100 clicks feels like in the real world. And it makes spirited driving in slow cars boring because you're almost always in top gear or a gear below.

Here's hoping the roads and wilderness looks as great as these photos. If they look half as good, it'll be more than worth the money.
