Yes, I said IKEA... ;)

As I'm on a low budget, I had to make do with stuff I have around the house.

A seat was quickly found, it's a pretty old chair but gives me a perfect seat hight and is really comfortable! Not sure what the name of it is, but it's kinda like the 'ancestor' of a chair comparable the 'Pello' seat.

Now that I had a nice seat, I needed something to mount my wheel, a pretty old Logitech Momo (the black one). It's far from prefect, but does the job quite nicely! So I had a good look around the house and noticed a barstool that was about the hight I needed, but as I grabbed it I was very doubtful the wheel clamp would fit, since it had a downward curved edge and the metal frame might be in the way..
I tried to mount the wheel anyway and I was astonished it actually fitted!

I sat down in the chair and pulled the barstool towards me and it was like perfect.. As if it were made to do the job! Perfect wheel hight and stability even expensive professional rigs have a hard time matching!

Of course there's no adjust ability except for moving the wheel closer of further away. The pedals sit on the edge of the rug using the carpet grips and it hardly(/doesn't) move even during intense racing.

All I have to do to start racing is turn the tv to the right angle, pull out the chair and put the barstool in front of it and set it all up so the pedels grip the corner of the rug, line up the chair and barstool to match the angle of the tv and I'm set in under a minute.

Let's stop the talking and show a picture of this 'IKEA' racing rig! :sly:

The wide lens makes it look like the tv is really small, but it's not too bad irl.

Oh... I also use gloves... sweaty hands and rubber grip makes for a sticky wheel... picked them up pretty cheap at dealextreme.

(I'll update with a better and maybe more pictures asap)

Love the cheap options because its what I need to aim for these days...looks great man! 👍

Not sure what the wheel cost me.. I bought it 4 or 5 years ago.. The seat is, I'm guessing ~15 years old, but a similar one costs about ~€30,- and a barstool like the one I use, I can't find anymore, I know it was kind of expensive, something like ~€60,-. But the upside is, if you're not racing you've got two nice seats for your living room :)

just bolt the 25mm square section aluminium rods to the side using the current bolts.
get two 90 deg elbows.
Job done....total rig cost under 40 bucks (chair off secondhand website)

How is your set-up durability wise ? Does it still work ?

I love seeing the gammut of racing rigs on GTP, I would've never thought of Ikea as having something useful for us sim racers. Looks good.

Usually when I walk trough an IKEA store, I think of stuff I could do with the items other then their intended purpose :p Makes shopping there pretty interesting...

My setup did pretty well, but I switched to a WheelStandPro :)

my seat was second hand and had alot of movement. Sadly on Tuesday night it died :(

I am picking up a new seat on the weekend.
I want to point out my seat had ALOT of movement. I know people who are still using there seats after 4 years (mine lasted just under 2 years) Seat only cost me 15 bucks so you get what you pay for
