this is a little rant of mine.. not really a flaw in GT3 but a flaw in my friend who plays GT3 with me whom a wanna strangle sometimes :P


I've got house to myself for the summer, so i took the PS2 from my room where i used to play it on my PC using my 20" trinitron and took it out to the Living room where the 36" with 5.1 surround is... 20" split screen makes seeing where u're goin kinda hard but on the 36 it's fine... so we play alot more 2 player now

enough background.. now here's my rant:

me and a friend of mine play alot of 2 player battle now... when we race.. I always drive grip and try to go for proper race lines and drive like a driver should...

My friend on the other hand.. thinks we're playing pinball and bumper cars...
say we take a corner and i'm in the lead... I go outside-apex- outside again.... he goes Inside Apex and then Uses me as a brake and smashes into me sending me off the road and into the wall while he continues on laughin like a mad man... :ouch: then i spend the rest of the race tryin to make up lost ground..
and generally i can close teh gap and if i go to over tak he swerves and tries to block me and i end up hittin him from behing and propellin him forward and losing speed my self :(


and generally i'll pick a car slightly slower then his cuz i prefer winning a race in teh twisties ran then the straights...


as for the pinball.. on closed courses such as rome.. he uses the damn Walls to ricochet off and keep goin rather then using racing lines... and for some god damn reason.. i'm racing grip and he uses the wall and wins...


it drives me mental... I call him lotsa colorful 4 letter words and tell him he sux donkey testicles and such... and then if he drove like a man i'd smoke him every time etc etc..

his only reply "Winning is winning" or "the car wouldn't turn what can i do" or "this is my technique u can do the same blah blah"

and it affects my driving... cuz i'm braking hard to enter the corner expecting him to rail me from behind any second or sandwich against a wall after the apex or cut me off.... etc etc... when i'm in front with a decent margin then i drive much better cuz i can focus on driving..

the only thing i can do to combat him is picking some tracks with no Walls like Laguna Seca or Apricot hill and such.. but then he flames me saying "oh u know i'll beat u on teh other tracks blah blah so u pick this one ha?"

So ya.. that is the most of my rant.. i wont bore u ppl anymore...

i can't wait for GT4 to come out with the Wall hitting penalty.. that should even the playing field a little :indiff:
 
HA, sounds like me a few years ago, on GT1, simply get rid of your super fast cars, and if he has a whine, put him in his place, OR do what me and my mate do, 99 laps (well till we wanna change cars) and dont race, but compete in skill. This is all we do, and its more fun, Though slaming into the cars in arcade is fun with a 3000Gt. Or use a super fast car like the R390 and leave him in the dust with grip driving. :drool:
 
I used to race with a friend all the time but that was the only way he woud beat me was ramming into me in the corners. I could still catch him but it would have been nice to have someone racing the correct way. Even when we linked up and had 4 PS2 all playing GT3 he would still do it to all of us. Oh well I dont hang out with him anymore anyway. I did teach him how to drift and we had a lot of Double Drift replays and screenshots that have been posted around other boards about 2 years ago.
 
Get two very slow cars and he won't have as much an advantage wall riding. I'm thinking the Mini or a Vtiz 👍.
 
Oh yeah we did that a lot too. As boring as it sounds, it sure made for some extremely close races!! Especially when there are 4 of them. Looks hilarious going 35 mph yelling "Im pulling ahead of you!!!!!" :lol:
 
Pair of Speed 12's on the Complex String, ASR and TCS off. That should sort him!
 
Yes we played all the time. He just got tired of loosing every single race against me so he started just rammin me. I eventually learned how to drive and countersteer when he did it. Like I said above I dont play with him anymore.
 
No Offense but unless U suck donkey balls urself at playing this game you should deff be able to be ur stupid friend if he is using wals.

real cute.. maybe u should try it sometime and see.. i'm talking about walls that are right next to the corner.. if u hit them at 45* or less degress u actually get pinballed forward and can enter and exit turns faster... kinda like Takumi's Gutter trick...

and when u get Pushed of the road or pinned against a wall at the same time it doesn't really help either?
 
Not saying anything bad against your friend, as I'm sure he's a good guy but his driving style stinks. That would really get on my nerves, and would probably seek a beter challenge.
 
Sounds like my 12 year old cousin. I sort him quite well....I tell him: Pick a fast car, we are going to the test course. He picks a Speed 12, the 787B, or my 220mph Cobra. I take the "wheelie special" GT-One. Nuff said.
 
I would not want to use such cheap strategems as Ottoman's friend does. Using the walls while trying to gain speed from a corner is an asinine dastard's tactic. Since I am a grip driver, I am honest and regular when it comes to turning. You should have said to your friend, "Hey, cheap tactics are not going to make you a good and expert player, it just feels dumb to use walls while trying to gain speed from any corners!" 👎 :trouble:

no no his driving sux u can say it it's ok... :P

he freely admits it "u own the PS2 u play everyday u're faster in the corners what can i do, i hafta win, so i win this way" etc etc
