I have a 93' Maxima and recently had the power steering belt torn off. I assumed the belt JUST controlled the power steering but how wrong i was, it controlled the water pump also. Okay that's not the point of this post.
Me and my dad replaced the belts and i thought they were awfully tight. So tight it was hard to push on the belt to get any kind of slack. I told him they were really tight but he said it's fine. When i drive the car now, i can hear the belts revolving which i didn't notice until after replacing it. Is there any harm in having them as tight as i described, or should there be just a lil slack?
