My Mp3 Player Trouble

My Nexia mp3 player has been playing up recently and I don't mean that as any kind of pun. It's always had this strange habit of going into a horrible electronic screech mid-song but at the beginning, it wasn't very often so I didn't make a big deal of it. However, it is now happening on every song and is enough to cause great annoyance, as you would expect. I love the sound quality and the player is small and light. It's great, this problem is just pissing me off.

It does use Compact Flash drives as memory so it could be that but I've tried wiping, formatting, loading new songs and the same problem always occurs, making me suspect that it is the player itself. Is there anything I should consider before phoning up the company and getting angry*?

Ditch that POS and buy an iPod.

Happily, if you'd willing to hand me the cash. I have a tour of South Africa coming up and I really can't afford to buy a new one.

It was just a reference to the "iPod or other MP3 player" thread and a dig at some of the vehement 'Pod-haters that were in there. Sorry I couldn't offer anything more constructive for your problem, but it sounds like an amplifier issue in the unit itself. How old is it and is it still returnable?

Is it the same songs that are going into the garbled stuff? If so it could be that those files are corrupted. Try them out on your computer and see if they work or not.

If every file was doing that then my best guess is that you've either got some sort of virus or a self-destructing MP3 player.

I know. 👍 I guess that reply was a little bitter, sorry for that. It's just that since I bought my PC and I've been paying back my parents, I get sensitive about things that I can't afford to repair or replace.

It should be returnable, it's less than a year old.

It's every song. They all work fine on the computer. I guess I'll have to wait for a reply from the company. :indiff:

If by any chance you can't get it fixed under guarantee (I know you said you didn't have money to spend, don't kill me), but if you are between 18 and 25 years old and are a student, you can get student reductions on the apple website.. (www.apple.com) I got my new mini for about CHF 257 (Swiss Currency)... Because it would be a waste of money if you had to PAY to repair your flash-MP3 player...

just my 2 cents..

I'm grateful for all suggestions.

My dad got a reply to upgrade the firmware. It looks great and even sounds a little better now and I thought "Excellent! It's fixed!".

It's not though. :(

You should check if you have all the papers for the guarantee.. and just send it in, not worth trying to repair it, they'll do it themselves, they'll even send you a new one probably..

I think that's where we're at now. He got a return address so we're sending it back.

I hope they feel bad and send me a better one. :sly:

it depends on how old your model is.. but I'm almost sure they'll send you a new one.. so that's a good deal for you already ;)
