Just bought this car and immediately upon looking at it in my garage I saw that the HP was 337. I did not do an oil change or anything to this car; I didn't even drive it. This is about 60HP more than the dealer specs for the car. Anyone else have this occur? I tried searching about this and had a difficult time finding anything. Thanks for any insight.

Hello, yes several japanese cars have "less" hp in the dealership for example 277 BHP, but they actually having 340 or something stock. PD has used the same data as the car manufactures has.

Many Japanese cars were rated at lower HP figures than their engines actually produced due to taxes and stuff. Same with classic American muscle cars.

From what I know, though, the American muscle cars don't have those higher HP figures than what's stated in the dealership, unless I'm mistaken on this.

I think this was true for all the older GT game as well. They are usually shown in the in-game dealership with the 278bhp, but once added to your garage they should their "real" power.

Japanese manufacturers had an agreement to not publicize hp figures above 276 hp (280 PS). I believe that agreement is no longer in place, but this is why you see so many Japanese cars in GT that list that exact hp figure in the car dealership.

That explains why so many Japanese cars are always rated at 276hp in GT games, always wondered that.

Yes its very annoying. I bought a 246hp Wrx from the used car dealership and it somehow had 256hp in my garage. The reason I bought it is because I needed it for the 246hp and below rally event. That was a waste of money

Thanks so much to everyone for clearing this up. With the oil change quirk, where you can boost your car's HP by oil changing before you drive it, I thought maybe I did something and just boosted the HP. Thanks again for all the helpful responses.

the 276 BHP was formed under something called the Gentleman's agreement (I know there are many of them) but part of the agreement was that no manufacturer could produce a vehicle with over 280PS.

So what Nissan, Subara, Toyota, and Mitsubishi always tossed on the 280PS on their brochures but they tucked a considerable more power. Now consider the Nur is also the last derivative of the N1; which had components from the JGTC cars back when they used V6's plus upgrade turbos and stuff. It was like a Normal R34 but with Stage 1 Engine implemented with a slightly improved turbo (durability wise).

Some of the older skylines had diy ways of removing the 276 limiters that Nissan made fairly obvious. Check out the skyline or the gt-r page on wikipedia

The r34 usually gave out around 330 hp when it left the show room
