Basically, I bought a PS3 40Gb version from Dick Smith Powerhouse, last Saturday. About 3 days ago, it started acting up and now isn't working well. After this post, I got a bit worried and we decided to go and replace it for a new one. So just a few minutes ago, we went to replace the PS3 from the same shop. A women came to help us out in Customer Service and started asking alot of irrelevant questions. After explaining what had happened about a thousand times, she went to speak with her manager. After a long time, she came back with another PS3 40Gb and told us it was new. This is the part where things get juicy. She simply took the 'new' PS3 out of the box and only replaced the consoles, leaving us with the same controllers and wires we had earlier. The manager then appeared and asked her whether she had checked the 'new' PS3's box to see whether everything was in it. She just kept going like she didn't notice. So we took the PS3 and headed home.

I come back home, all excited. But guess what? The game dosen't read AT ALL, infact nothing is working. After a long wait for the menu to start up, we discover that it is infact another used, faulty PS3 that she had given us. No wonder there was no security seal. So currently, we're stuck with another PS3 which dosen't work at all compared to the one we gave in. This also means that they're going to sell my old PS3 as new and rip another customer off.

Soon we're going back to the store to complain. Obviously it's gonna turn a bit nasty but oh well, their fault. Now this is where I need you guys, what can we do about this?

Edit: We went back, this time a nice guy helped us out and gave us a real new one.

Wow, some stores have some nerve. I would drop Sony an e-mail, just to let them know, unless you think it was a genuine mistake.

You should have got the store manager out, and complained to them! Might have got you a freebie if you threatend them with trading standards (or the Austrailian equivilant) and a call to Sony.

Anyway....glad you got it sorted in the end!

Yeah, totally forgot to comment about this one.

Anyways, good to hear you got a brand new PS3 instead of that busted up one earlier. God knows what would happened if you kept the faulty PS3, your warranty may even be voided since there was no security seals. :scared: But I always thought you were gonna but it at Target mart/ K-Mart or those big stores in Melbourne. Never heard of Dick Smith Powerhouse (I might be wrong) but the bigger stores do tend to have better quality and service. I remember I had one game that didn't work on my PS2 while I was there, and thankfully I managed to get a full refund on it.... 👍

We're thinking of complaining to consumer affairs about this women, not the shop. The manager clearly wanted her to give us the whole box and replace everything. It's this women, who I shall keep unnamed that is the problem.

The guy she talked to was the store manager, so as far as I know he wasn't the main problem here.

Name itself seems like the store is bunch of Dicks
Always buy Expensive stuff from well know locations.

Dick Smith here is a very large chain of electronic stores, it's tied with the Woolworths group.

Basically any time we make a large purchase, we always go to Dick Smith. They are usually the place to go for this kind of stuff. I guess we were unlucky this time 'round.

Thanks guys for the support 👍

Think you mis-understood me mate. I was meaning when you went back for a 2nd time you should have complained to the store manager about the woman that served you.

I didn't mean complain about the manager, because as you said he seemed to be quite decent about the whole thing.

Anyway, glad your sorted. ;)

Oh, yeah I did misunderstand you. We didn't really want to argue there much since we were in a bit of a hurry, but soon we're probably going to follow up this incident when we find the time.

Thanks once again 👍
