It was discussed, but they wanted to see how the London game on Sunday went first. As I recall, they sold out of all 90,000 tickets quite quickly in the UK. Although there is a very small following of the NFL there, my guess is that a spectacle like the Super Bowl wouldn't be hard to fill-up... Problem is, they really don't have stadiums like we do to fill-up.
Wembley Stadium has 90,000 seats in it, Ford Field only has 65,000 seats. They have the stadiums and I think they would have the people to see the games, I just don't think you would see many Americans wanting to pay a huge amount of money for tickets, then huge amounts of money on airfare, then even more money on a hotel in London...all while be screwed by the exchange rate. But what do I know, people pay ridiculous amounts of money for crazier things.
Going to either the Superbowl or World Series sounds like an amazing opportunity. I have never been able to go to one of these because they have never come all that close to me. Maybe now that I am closer to more out here in Michigan......
I went down to Detroit to party during the Superbowl back in 06, it was very cool and I loved being in that atmosphere. I can only imagine what it must have been like to be at the game. I also went down to party when the Tigers were in the World Series since you could watch the game for free by standing near the stadium, granted there were thousands like me doing the same but it was pretty fun. I recommend coming to this side of the state if that ever happens again.
