we're waiting for the PS4
fishtailrook1 (?)
this is odd.

the printer dissapeared outright on me for some reason. there's nothing in the print folder, even our old Lexmark. none of the programs are running for it.

I've done a reboot AND a system restore. I've also gone over the virus and spyware scanners to make sure the info didn't get infected and removed.

this is crazy, and I'm stumped.

I just brought that up this morning after I was done dropping off my crew. the only yellow notice appeared way back on Jan 9th, other than yesterdays.

it says the lexBce is out. i allready had this go out on me one when I was trimming upt startup runners to speed up this comp, and promptly went to a sys restore to put it back, but a sys restore last night didn't put it back this time

Mebbe something to do with the USB port? You could always download the driver from the web and reinstall it.

If all else fails, organise a search party and print out (at a Kinko's) some flyers with the printer's picture and stick them around the area where you last saw it.

*chucks an ink cartrige at Diego*
the nearest Kinkoes is probably in Pittsburgh...I'd have to go to staples :P

no, the USB is most defintely working, or I wouldn't have speakers, a scanner (the unit is a combo printer/scanner/copier) or the digital cam.

it's not the driver that's missing (and there's no way you could get the driver for a 5 year old unit off the web, now), it's the "lexBcs" runner for printers that seems to be missing. I'll have a cruise through the search

Check that the print spooler service is running, not set to manual or disabled.

Run services.msc to get to the services list.

got it.

both the LexBCE and the print spooler were shut off. the only problem seems to be that the Icon that represents the Printer combo's status is not in the tray.

mucho thanks, wfooshee. I better remember that thing you mentioned.

I always hated those status icons anyway. I don't need a window to pop up telling me the printer is processing a job. I knew that already, I just sent it. Thanks gobs for nuthin'!!

yeah, but this one also monitors the ink level...and the way my mother uses the ink on this thing...
