I completed five more Time Trials today, and one of the Formula GT races that I didn't fair too well in the first go-round. I've hit the 99% mark, where it stops updating.

What I have left to do
  • Formula GT 72 Laps at Monaco - Currently ranked 2nd by TWO LAPS. I kept knodding off ...
  • Swiss Alps Time Trial - Currently ranked 2nd by 0.7 seconds
  • Tahiti Maze Time Trial - Currently ranked 2nd by 0.2 seconds
  • Complex String Time Trial - Currently ranked 3rd by 6+ seconds
I picked up those five time trials in less than an hour. I was completely amazed ...

So, Vat Man, how are your standings? Did you make any progress on those enduros last night? I had to do them in 30 minute sittings and pause in the pit stops.

Finished the 300km Grand Valley enduro - ran the 787B and broke the race into three - stopped at lap 22 and 43. Broke it up into around 35 minute sections.

So - three to go. I'll try to get one more done this week, and do the two 2 hour events on the weekend.

I never realised the Trial Mountain event was for non-modified cars only - lucky I have the Speed 12 lying around....MMMWWUAAHHHH HAH HAH HAH!!!!!

You're lucky! I still don't have a Speed 12. I think I ran it in the top-o-the-line NSX, as suggested by you in someone else's desperate request for help thread. It's a breeze man, to me they all were. If you slap on super hard tires you'll be pitting less than half as much as second place, and picking up 15 to 18 seconds every time.

So that's it? Three more enduros? Yikes, I better get to work on those Time Trials ... I bet they'll take me longer than your few races.

I said "ta`heck with the golds in license!" ... not worth my time. I just want 100% completion so I can get on with my life.

(don't push it ZC)

The license tests are good to chip away at - I certainly intend working through them once I have the 100%. They're actually good for your racing!

I thought about using the NSX again (I do love driving it - and I'd have to grab the gold wheels out!), but I've been hanging to drive the Speed 12 since I won it (can't wait to open it up down the back straight there!).

I think once I get the 100% I want to run the Beginner League and see what the weakest car I can win those races in - my attention span won't stand up to the longer events.

Ha ha, sounds like ... fun ... or something. I ran the first few races again in an untuned Miata. It was harder than I expected, but I still did pretty good.

When I reach 100%, my PS2 will be on loan to an out of town friend. He needs good entertainment in his life. I've got a bunch of friends in town that have XBoxes, PS2s, and generally AWESOME computers, so we'll be lan-gaming a lot anyway.

Yeah - especially if you've got to find 6 seconds on the Complex String!

im useing the Gt-One Road car for that 2 hour endurance with only stock cars (trial mountain i think) i did it last night, did 83 laps and then in the last five minutes i turned around and played chicken!! 😈 needless to say i had mucho fun the last five minutes. and then i won that crappy ass S2000 race car. i got so pissed i threw the controller and it hit the reset button!!!!!!!!! so im in the middle of it right now (again) takeing a break, cause damn those 2 hours seem to take forever

I would do the race in the GT-One but I already lightened it and did everything else to it - won it VERY early on in the game.

Wow everybody. I think its impossible to get all golds on pretty much any of the licences! I just started playing this game again so hopefully I can get farther! :D

Welcome to GTPlanet! It's not impossible, just very very difficult. There are actually quite a few GTP members who have achieved all golds already.

Well, I'm running the old Viper I had lying around in the Trial Mountain enduro - talk about a blunt axe of a car!

It really doesn't care for being driven precisely - just get it pointed in roughly the right direction and stand on it...

I think I read somewhere that old man Andretti said the EXACT same thing. Then he proceeded to blow up the Viper's engine.

--- OK, so a little research tells the truth.

In one article, The Best Handling Cars in America (Road & Track, June 1999), Mario Andretti says this about the Viper GTS R, "The Viper GTS-R is a monster. But it's a monster you can have fun with. What it's lacking in finesse, it makes up in power. Its character is much like that of the Cobra, which is crude, but that's the nature of this beast. In these cars, you can use power to pull youself out. The learning curve is steep--mainly you need to get organized in the cockpit before you can start ripping into it. It requires the most driving of the bunch. The car does feel sloppy, but you learn to deal with that sloppiness. And although you're very busy in the cockpit, the rewards are nice."

Cars in competition and their scores by Mario Andretti:

Acura NSX - 84
Chevrolet Corvette - 74
Dodge Viper - 69
Ferrari F355 Spider - 77
Lotus Esprit - 72
Porsche Carrera 4 - 86

Ouch, the home boys got blown away by a bunch of foreiners! That's to be expected (:

And in another article, Fastest Street Legal Cars in America (Road & Track, August 1998), he has this to say about the Hennessey Venom 600 GTS, "This car has quite good aerodynamic balance at high speed. I would say that in the corners the Viper has been the quickest car so far. I just felt like I could really hang it out in this car. Typical of a high-torque engine in that you reach terminal velocity early. You don't build speed like in the McLaren, where it just feels like you are always accelerating. With the Viper I came off the corner and it was almost immediately at top speed. John told me it would pull 6500 rpm in 5th. I never saw 6500. I saw only 6300."

This was after he blew the engine. Actually an oil line burst and the hood caught fire. Made for a really great picture. I'll scan it when I get to work.
  • McLaren F1 - 217.7 MPH, 6th Gear @ 7500 RPM
  • Hennessey Venom 600 GTS - 205.4 MPH, 5th Gear @ 6300 RPM (disqualified for hardware failure)
  • Lingenfelter Corvette 383 - 203.1 MPH, 5th Gear @ 6000 RPM (disqualified for obseanly high emisions, 3x the legal limit)
  • Lingenfelter Corvette ZR-1 - 201.5 MPH, 5th Gear @ 6100 RPM (disqualified for obseanly high emisions, 2x the legal limit)
  • RUF CTR 2 - 201.5 MPH, 5th Gear @ 5800 RPM
  • Ferrari 550 Maranello - 193.4 MPH, 6th Gear @7500 RPM
  • Toyota Supra Turbo by HKS - 183.6 MPH, 6th Gear @ 6200 RPM
And there you have it.

Well, two Enduros to go - won the Trial Mountain event by a couple of laps. I can't believe they gave us such an advantage with superhard tyres!

How long is the S11 Longest Night event?

That'd be easy in the Speed 12. After the 🤬 game declined to give me it after doing the Tuscan Challenge, I went at Trial MT enduro with a Vanquish. It was fun, but quite easy. Just won the Trial MT II Polyphony Championship race by 1m40s in Vanquish.

I was doing the time trials, chipping away at the Swiss Mountain one - a tenth here, half a tenth there, feeling like I was :banghead: . I got to 2 tenths off 1st place. Then on my next go (which was right away - no break or anything), suddenly found another 1.5s!!! What's all that about then?

I really really hate it when than happens - and it seemed to happen a lot with the time trials - I had it with the Swiss Alps.

I worked down in .2 of a second increments to about 3 tenths off the time I needed - and then suddenly found 2 seconds.

Mind you, the lap felt good - I just about got through the section on to the bridge flat.

I elected not to use the Speed 12 and went with the Viper. Quick though the Speed 12 is I didn't particularly enjoy driving it on cold superhard tyres - I'll go back to it later. It was a time, not a distance, event, so as long as I was in front at the two hour mark it didn't matter.

So - how long is the 'longest night Enduro?

If I remember correctly its 40laps around SSR11, shouldnt take more than 1.5 hours use F1 or R390 with hardest tires or Toyota GT1 with hardest tires racecar versions for both.

finished that enduro (trial mountain) last night. like 1:30 am (took many breaks ;) ) and i won the Storm... bah. i decided to keep it since it had more hp then the one i bought. next i did 78 laps of mistral in a F094/s. wow that was annoying. if that car wasn't so damn fast and touchy i would have fallen asleep half of the race :)
i ended up winning the F686 (black and red) i had that too, but this had no miles so i kept it and sold the other (like the storm). man im sooo pissed. i wanted the Mine's skyline. i saw a pic of that in real life pics section, damn it was nice. :ghost:

Well, I'm pretty much right there with you. I've been wanting an RX-7 LM since the first day I played the game (at a friend's house), and haven't gotten one yet. Maybe I'll finish the game tomorrow and try to grab an RX-7 LM when I'm done.

No Rotor, No Motor.

I wish someone would pay me thousands of dollars to drive a McLaren and a Viper over 200 miles per hour. I wouldn't even catch them on fire! Well maybe ...
