Haven't got one.
I'm not sure If I should have put this in the marketplace forum or the q&a forum.
As my ps3 has died all my upcoming trades will be cancelled until I get a new one. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience.:(

Sad to hear, hopefully you made scheduled backups!

Good luck with getting a new one.

Won't work. PS3 will reformat your the old drive you put in. I WISH I had known this when my PS3 died a while back :(

I just was looking that up on the Internet just then:( I might have some luck by transferring the data from my computer

Sorry to hear,
Maybe you can try and trade here. Old Ps3 for a new PS3 :p

Is that because it's going into a new machine?

Yeah probably thinks it's a foreign object. Sending it to Sony anyway and they are going to give me a brand new ps3!:)

Find a way to connect the hard drive to your PC/MAC and transfer a game save to a USB.

That's what I mentioned a few posts above

You cannot do any of this. Unless things changed recently, the PS3 HDD is encrypted to each PS3 this means that when you stick it in a PC (or another PS3) it will look like garbage data. You have lost your data, there is not much you can do. I've been there before. I have my HDD from an old PS3 copied to my PC using dd in Linux but it's data in a cryogenic state; Useless until someone figures out how to decrypt it and bring it back to life.

I have just found a backup from October last year! Its a pretty good one as I have only lost progress of about 3 games! But luckily I have a backup of gt5 from today just before it died.:)

awesome, hopefully it will work.

Wow, hope it doesnt happen to me too :nervous:

Just make sure you backup every now and then. And by backup I mean a real backup not just transfer your game saves to USB because some game saves are protected, which means even if you just transfer the gamesave to another PS3 it will not let you load it.
