here it is , ive never mentioned it to anybody on the board before that i owned a s13 but i did mention that iw as looking for a shell , i found one at a local junkyard for 450 bucks had it towed to my house , installed a fender on it (wich was taken by a scavanger at the junkyard :( the car was also missing a radiator , so i took it on myself to install a new waterpump while i was at it as preventive maintnence , and the car fired right up at first start with 193k miles on what looks to be the original engine ... smoke free

thanks , its the beginning of a long (but hopefully rewarding) project , but the strength/durability/reliability of the KA24DE has amazed me , and a KA24DET does not sound like a bad idea at all . even though i love the way a SR20DET looks under the hood (redtop) with it's sexy red valvecover and bright alloy block .... if only i had the funds at the moment for those of you willing to look i still have a t3/t4 setup that i was going to use on my focus but iam thinking of using it for a KA24DET project , still undecieded on what i want to do.

If you have a backup vehicle, I'd say go SR20. I would never have started my project without one, because I remember my S14 w/SR having a few problems and then I'd have to hitch a ride to school/work. Project cars are a great thing to have, and a very fun, but when its your daily driver, its best to leave it alone so it stays in working order and parts are easy to come by.

Yea, pretty good idea Brother. Its alot easier if you road trip, and break something, to pull over, get towed, and have it replaced if you have a KA.

Recently I was deployed to Tyndall AFB (Panama City, FL). I drove my HS13 there because there were some AutoX events I wanted to compete in. Well, I never did end up getting to many of them due to the fact my alternator went out, and I had to wait 3 weeks to get a used one. Between availability and hurricanes Ivan, Francis, and Charlie, I got really screwed...

Thx for the props on my car =) I'm going to be going to Germany for 2 years, so its going to be collecting some more rust in storage =/ I wont be taking it with me due to inspection laws in Germany. That and I dont want to put garbage miles on my ride.

If i do happen to make a career choice along the lines of yours i will def end updoing something along the lines what you have done with your car (since i wont be driving daily anyway) . i live in FL(tampa bay area) btw and we have delt with every hurricane with the exception of 2 (charley and ivan) , this car was bought exactly 1week before hurricane charley hit. do you guys have access to a personal military storage facility ? or do you pretty much just have to find your own personal storage place ?

Ah you live in FL? Yea, dont talk to Enjuku Racing, they blow hardcore.

Yea, having a project car as a non-daily driver is the smart thing to do. Getting something to tow your car is probably the smartest. My daily driver is a 93 Ford Lightning, and I have a trailer which I use to take my car to the AutoX Solo II events I partake in.

I dont have a personal storage area supplied by the USAF, but my father, a longtime air ground equipment maintenance manager/technition, will be the caretaker for my Nissan while I'm out of the country.

Good to see you got that nice car out of a junk yard 👍.

They are a bit of a drive from my location anyway [Enjuku] i plan on dealing with either xatracing or zfever for my parts needs . thinking about getting rid of my focus and getting a nissan hardbody pickup ....but i owe more on the focus then it's worth (loan)

Phase2motortrend is great, I can tell you that right now. I've had nothing but love from them. I've actually called them with issues I've had, not even making an order, just an issue I had with my vehicle, and they sat there over the phone and helped me diagnose, lord I love those people. If you do go SR20, and you need any form of spare part, you can usually call HeavyThrottle and they'll have something laying around.

here are the pics of my jdm 180sx wheels and jdm 180sx front bumper(havent unwrapped it yet ... to lazy ;) )

RMS13 = fastback (180sx style) with a KA24 DE (1991- 93)

RHS13 = fastback (180sx style) with a KA24 E (1989- 90)

I think thats correct.

If it had HICAS it would be KRMS13

Ah, I'd never heard that the DE was MS13 / RMS13. I was under the impression all KA models were HS13 / RHS13.

I still havent checked to see if this car was equipped with HICAS or a factory VLSD (wich is extremly rare for a u.s. spec s13 ... if their where even any sold here with a vlsd) anybody know of any easy way of identifying/verifying this ?

I'll second that. I've dealt with Wayne & Luke a few times, and they just keep getting better. I often run into problems with US retailers unwilling to change their shipping habits to get stuff up to Canada for me at the lowest cost, but Phase2 has been great to deal with. 👍

Takumi Fujiwara
RMS13? Is that the HICAS model? The standard 240FB is RHS13.

Front bumper is a dead givaway for it being a RMS13.

EludeR: Dude, since you dont have any rubber on those wheels yet, have you given some thought to painting them? They would look pretty nice with a couple coats of black/gunmetal on them and a couple clearcoats.

yes i have ive considered painting them bronze/gunmetalish color , as for the car , that is a definite 1337 flatblack paintjob just like the SCC project car . :) now tell me that wouldnt look sick , iam planning on doing a s13 silvia front end conversion

sorry for bringing this back, but you're a lucky man. living in florida and all, there are no smog laws (as far as i know), so you can do basically whatever you want to your motor and not get any tickets for it. lucky guy...

and yeah, those 180sx wheels would look great in black or gunmetal. there's a guy around here that has an S13 with those wheels painted black, it looks very very nice.

It's still all money though ... but it is nice that we dont have any smog laws or emissions testing at the moment. plan on painting the wheels a gunmetal color eventually .. i fi dont get another set that is ..i already got a set of tires mounted on them ... the stock se wheels where all bent to hell and dinged up pretty well .... but since ive wrecked my daily driver ... after i get some time to recooperate iam going to be doing some serious 'reconditioning' to this car.

Wheel paint at autozone is hella cheap. It does a great job, a link below is one to some dude who painted his S14 SE wheels with it, and his rocks =)

i'll deciede what i do with them at a later time ... i maybe doing a 5lug conversion in the future ... infact i maybe taking very similar paths as you my friend ... except my car is a RMS13 and not a HS13
