My setup should handle 7.1 surround sound but i cant activate it

So my ps3 has at least 1 frequency that can and is turned on for 7.1 surround sound. I can set my denon avr-888 to either dolby digital or 7 channel for the audio setting. I think 7 channel sounds way better, i was watching a movie and found that the sound came out better when i changed the dolby digital setting on my tv which makes no sense, because i just have one hdmi going from my home theater to my tv.

Anyways, under the settings in gt5 the 7.1 surround setting is greyed out and the 5.1 is the best i can use right now.
Im using multi out on the ps3, and hdmi sound on my av receiver. Reason for the multi audio out is cuz i have av plugged into my butt kicker and the digital going to my headphones.

I really just wanna get the full 7.1 sound working since i invested so much in getting my 7.1 speakers all setup.

Any ideas on what i can do to troubleshoot this problem or try and remedy it?

You mean you have stereo going into your Buttkicker from your PS3, and HDMI going into your Denon from your PS3?
 
I'm using 7.1 too and from what I found out on Internet ( www.avforums.??? Search ps3 setup ) is that the ps3 will only output true 7.1 through hdmi. Your av amp may be converting to 7.1 but to ' ungrey ' the 7.1 in gt5 try outputting everything through the hdmi.

Yeah i read up a bunch of stuff and figured it out but im worried about busting my speakers.
So 7 channel audio is just virtual surround sound from the stereo sound.
I was able to set it up to hdmi as the only input and then set the av receiver to do 7.1 surround sound, after i went into my ps3 audio settings and turned on 7.1 and 192khz or what ever the highest one was. I cant figure out if my denon receiver can run it but i read on the first page that for dual audio it can run 192 khz, it was one of the best ones out when i bought it so im just hoping that it can support that setting.
There was another option of 7.1 and 192 or 194.2 or .4 something odd and i had no clue what it was or what to pick, i just went with the highest one.
So i hope my speakers dont bust :/

Any thoughts or ideas so i can make sure im safe here?

EDIT: while im here i might as well ask, does anyone happen to know of a way to plug in any kind of an h pattern style shifter as a second controller? Im forced to use this fanatec shifter that is literally made of plastic, its terrible. I miss using my logitech g27 shifter but i cant plug it into my fanatec racing wheel.
If thats not possible does anyone know if gt5 supports the club sport pedals? I was hoping i could use them plug and play, but i have a feeling i tried, and it didnt work unless it was hooked up to the fanatec racing wheel i have.
 
/cry so i found out i cant use 7.1 audio on my hdmi out if im using multi out sound. So since i wanna have my butt kicker working since i spent almost a hundred dollars on it, im forced to use 5.1 surround sound, im also not allowed to use 192 khz i gotta use 44.1 or 48

Why does the ps3 have to be such an annoying hassle

I dont understand why it cant just do all of em at the same time, it can if i just use hdmi.... *sigh*
